Episode 7230

Extended Summary

Outside the surf club, Ryder tries to tell a group of disinterested students that he’s finished his HSC. Bella pushes past him, ignoring him trying to get her to celebrate with him, and Colby also pushes past him as he follows her. In an imitation of Alf, Ryder comments to Mackenzie that everyone’s in a “flaming rush” these days. Meanwhile, Robbo and Jasmine have just parked their car back in town. Jasmine gets Robbo to tell her again that they don’t have any more bodyguards or motel rooms and can exercise wherever they want. He gets Grace from the car and shows her the Bay. He has trouble getting their cases while holding her but refuses Jasmine’s offer to take her.

Colby and Bella yell at each other through her bedroom door until Bella emerges. She thinks Colby can’t trust Mackenzie while Colby thinks that’s not up to her. Robbo and Jasmine come in during the argument and Robbo asks if it’s a bad time. Colby initially says yes, then calms down and notes they’re back with a baby. Robbo introduces him to Grace. Jasmine invites Bella over but she has no interested in a “crying, pooping baby” and leaves. The others reflect that Tori’s still in hospital. Meanwhile, Leah and Justin arrive back at the Morgan house. Justin is annoyed that Robbo took Grace away from the hospital without talking to them. He thinks she should have stayed with Tori, even though the doctors said she could leave hospital. Justin is all for heading straight round there but Leah points out Mason and Ava haven’t seen him in a while. He agrees to check on Ava first.

Ryder is drinking by himself at the bar at Salt, trying to ponder to a not-really-listening Mackenzie that he’s celebrating alone and got no-one to talk to about his standing up for what he believed in, since Alf’s away, Roo’s busy and Raffy’s gone. He convinces her to talk to him for five minutes and asks about Bella, saying Raffy had three brothers who were bigger and uglier than him but he set boundaries and made them respect him. Mackenzie gets a call from Colby checking she’s all right. Mackenzie says that, threats of bodily harm aside, she understands where Bella’s coming from. Colby thinks she didn’t mean it but Mackenzie isn’t as sure. Colby notes they didn’t finish their talk and says Bella will calm down soon.

In a park area, Bella throws stones at a bin and then snatches up a thick branch. She apparently cuts her hand on it but still uses it to hit a metal post again and again. Alex comes along and recognises Bella as Willow’s friend, noticing her hand is bleeding. Bella aggressively tells Alex to leave her alone but Alex refuses to back down. At the Diner, Irene and Jasmine have been reunited, with Irene noting that Colby told her everything was over but she didn’t believe it until she saw her. Alex arrives with Bella and asks for the first aid kit; she has a brief reunion with Jasmine, who Bella bluntly tells to go back upstairs. Bella reluctantly lets Alex treat her.

Upstairs, Robbo is sitting on the couch with Grace and talking to Colby about how things are going to work. Jasmine arrives with coffees and tells Colby that Bella’s downstairs and has hurt her hand. After he’s gone, Robbo notes he needs to go into Yabbie Creek to get things for Grace. Jasmine points out it would be hard taking her and suggests he leave Grace with her. Instead, Robbo decides to go another day. Downstairs, Alex finishes treating an ungrateful Bella while relating what she saw. Irene asks Bella if it was about Mackenzie. Colby arrives and Bella tells him to forget the caring brother act. Irene suggests they take a walk. Colby agrees and doesn’t give Bella a choice.

Ryder finishes his drink and asks Mackenzie if she’s reconsidering the staff discount policy. Mackenzie says the policy is “Don’t ask for freebies and I won’t fire you”, but buys him one herself. Ryder asks her about Bella, saying he overheard the conversation with Colby. He says Bella scared him at first but once you get past the attitude she’s awesome. Meanwhile, Bella and Colby are on the wharf with Bella noting she hasn’t shouted yet. Colby asks her about Mackenzie and Bella says it’s Chelsea all over again and letting outsiders into their family doesn’t work. Colby says it can’t always be them against the world, asking about Willow and Dean. Bella says they’re okay because they get them, but everyone else wants to change them. She thinks they’ll never be a normal family because they’re too broken.

Irene has gone to see Robbo and Jasmine at the flat and is holding Grace. Robbo decides to go and get the cradle from the Morgans. After he’s gone, Jasmine expresses the opinion that he’s on the verge of crashing. Irene thinks she is too but Jasmine can’t worry about that, saying she needs to make sure she catches him. Meanwhile, Justin is on the phone to Brody, saying there’s no point him coming down and to give his love to Raffy and Simone. He tells Leah that Brody wants a photo of Grace but Robbo won’t let him near her. He blames Robbo for Tori not giving birth in hospital. Leah tries to calm him down by telling him to take food to Ava. Robbo arrives for the cradle. Justin thinks he has written Tori off, since he made it for her. Robbo replies that he made it for Grace. Leah helps convince Robbo to go.

Colby goes to see Mackenzie at Salt. He says he can see now where Bella’s coming from but it’s not a quick fix: He needs to focus on her and can’t ask Mackenzie to wait around. At the Diner, Ryder waxes lyrical to Irene about his newfound freedom but is deflated when Roo texts asking him to bring the milk home. Leah and Justin arrive; Justin is still unhappy and goes to get a table outside. Leah tells Irene she can see both sides between Justin and Robbo. Irene notes Robbo’s on the verge of breaking as well. Justin overhears and thinks he’s not coping.

Justin bursts in on Robbo and Jasmine at the flat and demands to see Grace. Robbo says he’s only just put her down and no-one’s seeing her. They go outside where Justin blames Robbo for what’s happened to Tori, considering him unfit to look after Grace, while Robbo threatens him with violence if he doesn’t leave. Leah leads Justin away. Back at the Morgan house, Justin insists to Leah he will take Robbo to court if he has to. At the flat, Jasmine suggests to Robbo that it might be good to let Justin and Leah help out but Robbo refuses to countenance it and goes to check on Grace.
