Extended Summary
Brody is setting things up at Salt but Ziggy’s attention is focused on Willow and she is worried that something’s happened. Justin comes in and Brody tells Ziggy to leave them to it. Justin asks Willow about her outburst. Willow says she’s been walking on eggshells for weeks, worried about being seen talking to Dean. Justin reminds her he said she didn’t need to stay away from him. Willow accepts it but reminds him he also said their relationship wouldn’t survive with Dean around. At the Diner, Marilyn shows off the nail extensions she’s prepared for the fundraiser to Irene, Roo and Leah. At the farm house, Coco asks Maggie’s advice on an outfit for the dinner while Maggie ponders her speech for the event. Ben is on the phone to Irene who tells him everything’s fine and they’re getting a big response on Leah’s website. Ben tells a distracted Maggie and Coco he’s going to drop off some silent auction prizes at Salt.
Ziggy finds Brody contemplating texting Tori for news and they chat about the pregnancy. Ben comes in and asks Justin if he’s given any thought to his set for the dinner or where he’s going to play. Justin abruptly says he doesn’t care and walks away. Brody follows him out and asks what’s happened. Justin says that Willow’s not happy because of the ultimatum. Brody thinks that it was bound to go wrong. Justin says he’s spent all day making plans for their future but she wouldn’t listen when he tried to talk to her about it.
Next morning, Ziggy takes a dress down to the gym, telling Willow that Robbo said they could leave them there to change into for the dinner. Willow is distracted and Ziggy asks if things are any better. Willow says she can’t sort her life out and was tempted to gamble: She can’t get hold of her sponsor. Ziggy suggests she talk to Brody and takes her upstairs to Salt. Brody takes her into the store room and asks if it’s to do with Justin. Willow says she’s known Dean forever and can’t just switch off her feelings for him. She says when she spoke to Dean yesterday she felt comfortable and herself and then she hid. Brody tells her Justin cares about her and was organising a road trip. Willow realises that that was why he called her round.
Ben is trying to shepherd Maggie and Coco out of the house. Coco shows Maggie a t-shirt she’s got her but says she doesn’t have to wear it: It’s bright pink and has the slogan “I kicked cancer’s butt”. Maggie is delighted and Coco says she’s got them for Irene and Marilyn too. Ben manages to get them moving. They head to the Diner where Irene and Marilyn are delighted with the shirts and give Ben and Coco things to take out to the car. Ben runs into Justin who apologises for yesterday and says he’s happy to play if Ben still wants him to.
Maggie, Ben and Coco examine the stage at the fundraiser before Coco goes to chat to Ryder at one of the stalls. Alf and John are setting up the barbeque and argue about the fact the gas bottle seems to be empty. Ben tells them he left a couple of full ones in the surf club just in case. At the Morgan house, Justin is practising guitar. Willow comes in and comments that she didn’t know he played. She says Brody told her about the road trip. Justin says it was a crazy idea and he just thought things were good when they were alone together. He refuses to discuss it any further.
Leah films Irene and Marilyn at the event. Ryder gives Coco and Ziggy some special smoothies that he’s made for the event and gets them to try them; they approve. The girls join Ben and Maggie and get Maggie up on stage for her speech. She welcomes everyone and thanks them for being there before saying she was diagnosed with cancer nearly a year ago and her world came crashing down but she got through it thanks to her doctors, nurses, friends and family. She says it’s time to kick cancer’s butt. Up in Salt, Justin surprises Brody and Ziggy with a guitar he’s bought for Brody, saying now he can join him in the performance. Ziggy asks about Willow, saying she seemed upset earlier, but Justin is dismissive.
Roo finishes a phone call to Tori and tells Maggie that she’s taken Raffy to hospital to get her medication adjusted. Maggie wonders if she asked about the suspension but Roo tells her not to think about that today. Nearby, Marilyn is doing Coco’s nails. Coco is worrying about Raffy and tells Ryder to text her and say they hope things went well at the hospital and she should come if she’s feeling up to it.
Ziggy finds Willow in the gym. Willow is feeling bad about misjudging Justin’s intentions yesterday but Ziggy tells her she has a right to be angry and shouldn’t just swallow it. Upstairs, Leah chats briefly to Justin and Brody as they set things up. After she’s gone, Willow comes in and tells Justin there’s no point them only working when they’re on their own. She says she’s going to carry on spending time with Dean and doesn’t care if he understands because she doesn’t need his permission to have friends.
Later, Brody is practising the guitar in the store room. Ziggy comes in and he tells her he doesn’t want to let Justin down. Ziggy isn’t in the mood to be positive about Justin, saying what he did was controlling. Brody tells her not to talk about his brother like that. Justin overhears and accuses Ziggy of getting in Willow’s ear. Ziggy says they had problems already but Justin says she added fuel to the fire. Ben comes in and angrily tells Justin not to shout at his daughter.
