Extended Summary

Ash is coming up from the beach when he sees Dean and realises he’s spent the night in his car. He thinks Dean was out drinking but Dean says he doesn’t have any money for beer. Despite his sullen attitude, Ash offers to shout him an egg bacon roll. Meanwhile, at the farm, Maggie gets up to find Ben cooking breakfast. She confirms she’s feeling better, at least until the next chemotherapy session. She notices a set of bills has arrived and ponders the fact she can’t be on paid leave forever. They can’t rent the flat out while Kat’s things are there and can’t ask Robbo or Ash to clear it, so decide to get contact details for Kat’s family from Alf. Maggie insists on helping.

Roo joins John and Marilyn for breakfast, having spent the night at theirs. John jokes that the guest room is the solitary confinement room for when he annoys Marilyn. Marilyn tries commenting on things getting on top of Roo and says Alf is worried about her but Roo quickly excuses herself, saying she has work to do for school. John says she’s obviously putting on a front and Marilyn suggests they ask Roo to move in with them. Later, at the Diner, Alf fills John and Marilyn in on what happened with Jasmine and the others but doesn’t want to worry Roo. Ben and Maggie come over and all of them, especially Marilyn, give Maggie a warm greeting. They say that Kat’s family have told them to put her things in storage.

Justin and Willow are waking up in her caravan. Willow predicts the conversation they’ll have if she asks Justin what’s bothering him, before pressing him to admit he was bothered about Dean’s visit. She says she and Dean grew up in the same neighbourhood, went to school together and were friends and sometimes more but it was never serious…and if Justin hadn’t been there, she’d have kicked him out even harder because it’s Justin she likes. Justin says he understands Dean’s her friend but doesn’t like him. Later, Ash and Dean are walking by the beach when they run into Dean’s boss, Baz, and two henchmen. Baz demands the tools Dean stole and Dean demands money Baz owes him. A scuffle breaks out between the two groups but Justin and Willow step in and Baz leaves. Ash isn’t particularly grateful, telling Justin to stay out of it and noting Dean understands loyalty. Justin retorts that loyalty only works one way with Ash.

Ash and Dean head up to Salt where Dean explains he was fired for taking too much time off. Ash realises this was because he was helping him look for Robbo. Dean insists he’s owed money for the work he actually did and says he took the tools as compensation. He admits they’re hidden in his car. Ash points out both the police and Baz know about them and asks for Dean’s phone. Meanwhile, Ben and Maggie go up to the Diner flat but feel slightly ghoulish at seeing Kat’s life frozen there, including the ultrasound photo pinned on the fridge. Maggie notes her coffee tastes wrong, as everything does, and feels dizzy, having to sit down, but insists she’s up to helping pack things up.

At the Diner, John and Marilyn make their offer to Roo to move in with them. Roo is grateful but says that she’s hoping that pretty soon she’ll make up with Alf and move back home. Meanwhile, Ash and Baz are waiting at the garage. Dean turns up in his car. Baz complains about him always being late and Dean quips that he wasn’t when Baz’s wife called. Ash stops them squaring off and gets them to make an exchange; Dean hands over the bag containing the tools and Baz hands over an envelope full of cash. Baz leaves after saying he’ll make sure no-one else hires Dean. Ash admits he offered Baz a free service. Dean admits that, despite now having the rent money, he burned his bridges with his housemates. Ash offers him a job at the garage.

Justin turns up at the gym and jokes with Willow about needing a personal trainer. He tells her her surprise is ready and to meet him in the car park. As he heads out, he runs into Dean and warns him he’ll flatten him if he pulls another stunt with Willow. Dean accuses Justin of marking his territory and says Willow doesn’t do long term. Justin retorts that it’s because she’s never met a man before. A short time later, Willow goes outside and finds the restored Triumph there with Justin hid behind it. Willow protests that she gave it to him to pay for the insurance but Justin says it’s more hers than his. Willow kisses him gratefully. Dean watches from a distance, looking unhappy.

Marilyn brings Alf a tea outside the Diner which he realises is a pretext to talk to him. She tells him not to give up on Roo and recalls her opening up the previous night. Ash comes along and notices a bag of Kat’s things, asking what’s going on. He heads up to the flat where Ben and Maggie are at work. They apologise for not involving him but Ash understands, saying it wasn’t his place anyway. They tell him Kat’s family said to donate the baby things to the Salvos. Ash accepts it and notices the ultrasound photo. They suggest no-one would object to him having it. Ash takes it and leaves them to it.

Ash and Dean clean up the garage with Ash saying he’s got them places at the caravan park in exchange for doing some maintenance work on the wharf. Justin and Willow turn up in the Triumph. Justin isn’t happy about Dean working there or about him making small talk to Willow, Ash isn’t happy about Justin giving the Triumph back to Willow when it was meant to cover their excess and he used the garage to fix it. Justin ends up accepting Dean there but says he’s taking the afternoon off and drives off with Willow. Meanwhile, Ben and Maggie stop by the Diner; Maggie explains about coffee not agreeing with her so Marilyn offers her something herbal. Maggie goes to sit with Roo and, when asked, says she’s fine before wondering why they always act as though things are fine when they’re not. She asks Roo about being trapped at the school with Alf, noting family is everything.

Roo goes to see Alf at the bait shop. She nearly backs out of talking to him but eventually says she wants him to help her find her mum. Meanwhile, at the farm house, Ben finds Maggie looking at a family photo. She wonders whether they’ll soon be boxing up her things. Ben insists that won’t happen but Maggie says the positivity isn’t helping: She could die and he and the girls need to prepare for that. They hug.
