Andy Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 WEDDING BELLE The Sydney Morning Herald 24 October 2005 Home and Away star Kate Ritchie has joined the cast of the ABC telemovie Stepfather of the Bride in a stellar line-up that includes William McInnes, Garry McDonald, Alex Dimitriades and Noni Hazlehurst. Written by Geoffrey Atherden, the film follows three generations of a family as they prepare for a wedding. Home and Away fans need not despair - Ritchie is not leaving the top-rating soap. A Seven spokesman told The Guide the network was happy to work schedules around Ritchie's commitments. Production begins next Monday.
caitlin87 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 That should be interesting. I don't think I've seen Kate Richie in anything else! I'm sure she'll shine
Krazy Karl Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 That should be very interesting... will have to check it out!
purplesarah Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Awesome, I have always wanted to see her act in other areas. And what a fantastic cast to do it with as well. Thanks for the article.
claire_louise Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 That's fantastic news. It also shows how much she is valued at H&A, because soaps usually only let their top stars do other things (eg. in Eastenders, I think it's only Dot and maybe one or two others whose contracts aren't binding to the one show). Mind you, considering they were so flexible with Bec Cartwright it's only fair Kate should get the same treatment - she is a much bigger asset to the show! I doubt we'll get to see this new programme in the uk though. PS. Just checked something out because I was sure I recognised the name Alex Dimitriades...it's Nick from Heartbreak High! What a fab cast this show will have! I didn't know he was gay though!
britishrules Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 thats good , kate can really showcase her talents in other areas as well as the soap
superboy_steven Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 This is probably exactly what Kate need to really show her potential. It will be a great shame when she does eventually leave, but I wouldn't mind so much if she was more accredited for her acting abilities. I like tele-movies anyway, but this one is not to be missed.
ste Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Very interesting! Shame I won't get to see it. I'm sure she'll do a great job. I wonder what her role is like, I hope it's very different from Sally.
