DANCING With The Stars contestant Esther Anderson admits she's lost a dramatic amount of weight since appearing on the show and confesses she is trying to "eat and eat and eat" to return to a fuller figure.

Confidential told how Channel 7 had been contacted by worried viewers last week after the Home and Away actress appeared on the show in a revealing emerald gown that clearly displayed her rib cage and stick-thin arms.

It sparked fears she was losing too much weight training for the gruelling dance contest.

Yesterday, Anderson agreed the image was not flattering, explaining she'd always tried to be a role model to young fans. She said: "No one likes seeing an unflattering photo of themselves.

The main thing is, being on Home and Away automatically you become a role model for young girls.

"I don't want young girls to look at me and think I'm trying to be skinny and that I think protruding ribs look good, because I don't. I would love to be a lot more curvy.

"I am naturally petite and have never been a big exerciser, so add my petite frame to 20 hours a week of dancing ... every single person who goes through the show says they have lost weight. I am just trying to eat and eat and eat."

She also stressed she didn't want naturally skinny girls to feel there was something wrong with them.

After our story at the weekend, Anderson appeared in a less revealing outfit on Sunday.

She and dance partner Brendon Midson wowed judges with their fiery Paso Doble.

Nice to know they care so much

Seriously anyone who thinks Esther Anderson has an eating disorder needs to have their head checked. This was a non-story that media outlets with nothing better to do tried to turn into a story. For god sakes people try to use some common sense, you go through the rigorous workouts she's been putting herself through for the past couple weeks, you'd lose weight too. Esther is beautiful inside and out. End of story.

Good she responded like that, sometimes actors also have to lose weight look unhealty for certain role in a movie but they get paid big bucks

If Esther says she can do nothing about it then it is probably like that because she's under contract she can hardly quit can she if dancing just started then she can only hope to get voted out

Awwww I am touched that this article has been created and what Esther said, because I am going through the exact same thing. I am very, very skinny. I want to gain more weight and currently I've been "eating, eating, eating" trying to gain weight. It's good to see she's trying to be a positive role model, but stress can certainly make you lose alot of weight. I'm not sure whether Jess Tovey wanted to look like skinny because Belle had cancer, or whether her increasing work load and stress made her lose the weight. But now you can see the difference and Jess has put on more weight. I don't think Esther looks too thin, her body is fine :)

Thanks for the article!

Esther wouldn't get out of the show anyway, even though she is losing lots of weight as she loves it and has wanted to be on it for so long. She just needs to eat lots of carbs at the moment. It's pretty terrible that people jump to conclusions so quickly saying she's a bad role model and way too skinny when they know nothing about her. She can't help that she's so small and has a great metabolism. People just don't believe that some people (both male and female) have to do the opposite to most others and watch what they eat so they don't lost weight, which is what Esther has said on many different occasions. It's great that she addressed it too so the people who don't know muchabout her can understand she's not trying to lose weight and be a twig. Good on her. Too me that's a good role model right there.

Esther- at least she is trying to put weight on. Other stars would be like 'I don't need to , I'm fine' Esther saw the picture, said she looked awful and is trying to do something about it. I praise her for that. She's a good role model and I think every young girl who watches H&A would like to have a figure like Esther (And probably the rest of the female cast but stick with me on Esther) And Esther is covering herself by saying she is eating more and knows that the recent pictures of herself aren't very nice. She said that 'Protruding ribs don't look nice' and that she'd 'Love to be more curvy'
