7TWO Transmission Discussion

the kerfuffle was due to people believing an answer from Ch7 given to certain parties was any more reliable than all the other conflicting answers Ch7 were giving out, those parties being aware that people were blindly believing this one answer despite it having no more credence than any of the others, and doing nothing whatsoever to make sure people knew this.

Now, a question was asked about what happened and has been answered. Let it lie.

Okay, I’m going to say one last thing on the matter to clear things up. The answer ‘certain parties’ were getting from Channel 7 were from those in the call centre who are only privy to the information on immediate programming. BTTB directly contacted Angus Ross, the Director of Network Programming, and Therese Hegarty, the Director of Content Rights and Distribution and their answer was given. I’m sorry, but their word is definitely more reliable than a few people in a call-centre with no knowledge of the goings-on in an executive meeting.

This whole conversation was inflamed by a certain few who, in a thinly veiled attempt, were trying to cause drama that that was no need to create.

At the end of the day, the factors surrounding the axing of The Early Years, however upsetting it was to users, Will most likely never be known.

It's been over 18 months now and with no further updates and discussions needlessly going around in circles, it's time to close the thread.

For future reference, this was the response given by the Director of Programming, which still stands as of a few months back when we asked for further updates. Whether there's more to the story or not is anyone's guess, but it's as high up the chain as you can get in regards to people who actually have hands-on knowledge of the broadcasts, and is likely the only explanation we're going to get.

Rest assured we'll still contact them on a semi-regular basis to make known the continued interest.
