Chapter 1

The doorbell rang. Martha got up off the sofa and went to open the door. A smile appeared on her face when she saw who it was.

“Hannah!” she exclaimed. “What are you doing here?”

“What can’t your sister live, where you live?” Hannah said.

“Of course she can! That’s great!” Martha said. “I can't wait to introduce you to some of my friends.”

“Hi,” Martha said to Jack.

“Hey. What’s up?” said Jack.

“Nothing much,” said Martha. “I’d like to introduce you to my sister, Hannah,”

Jack’s eyes suddenly fell on the young lady standing beside Martha.

“I’m Jack,” said Jack. “Jack Holden.”

Martha felt uncomfortable with the way they were looking at each other.

“Nice to meet you,” Hannah said, shaking his hand.

“You too,” Jack said.

“So, how are the boys here like?” Alf asked.

“Quite good looking actually,” Hannah said.

“Who’s your favourite?” Alf said.

“Granddad!”

“Come on,” said Alf. “I’m your granddad.”

“Okay then. I think Jack’s quite nice,” said Hannah.

“Jack Holden?!” Alf said. Hannah nodded.

“Do you know he is?” Alf asked.

“A guy?” Hannah joked.

“He’s Martha’s ex- husband.” Alf said.

“EX- husband? What happened between them?” Hannah asked, taking the orange juice, Alf was offering her.

“You know those Husband-Wife dilemmas,” said Alf. “Only Martha took it to the extremes and ended up sleeping with his best friend.”

“Ouch,” Hannah said.

“Yeah. Jack took it pretty badly but he found himself a girlfriend only she moved away after a few months and they broke up.” said Alf.

“Complicated life,” Hannah said.

“So… Are you going to try start something with Jack,” said Alf.

“Not yet,” said Hannah. “I’m going to try fit in first,”

“Good idea,” Alf said.

Hannah walked into ‘Noah’s’. A friendly smile plastered on her face to attract people who were willing to be her friend. She saw Jack sitting at a table and made up her mind to join him.

“Hi,” She said.

“Oh, Hi,” Jack said, looking up.

“Can I join you?” Hannah asked.

“Sure,”

Soon both of them were having a good time. Martha came in to do her shift.

“Hey Martha! Would you like to join us?” Hannah asked, taking a sip of her beer.

“Hannah, she can’t drink on the job,” Jack said.

“Aw, too bad.” said Hannah. “It’s okay though, I’m having a great time with Jack anyway,”

Martha looked amazed at what Jack had just said.

“Have fun,” she said quietly. She turned around and walked a few steps when she heard laughing again.

“Hey babe,” Ash said, walking up to Martha. He planted a kiss on her lips. Jack and Hannah still didn’t take their eyes off eachothers.

“Martha, are you with me?” Ash said.

“Sorry… what did you say?” Martha asked.

“Never mind,” Ash said. “Anyway, how would you like me to cook you dinner tonight.?”

“That would be great,” Martha muttered.

“Maybe we could have a bubble bath together afterwards.” Ash added in quietly.

“Cool.” Said Martha.

“See you tonight then,” Ash said.

***

“I better go now,” Hannah said. “It’s getting late.

“Me too,” Jack said.

“Bye,”

“Wait.” Jack said. “Are you free tomorrow night?”

“Yeah. Why?” Hannah said.

“Would you like to have dinner with me?” Jack asked.

“That would be fantastic,” Hannah said.

“Great. I’ll pick you up at 6,” said Jack.

“See you then,” said Hannah. “Bye.”

“Bye,”
