HOME and Away star Kate Ritchie admitted she was petrified of performing in Channel Seven's new series It Takes Two.

Celebrities not known for singing are paired with some of Australia's finest singers as they embark on the experience of a lifetime.

As one of the stars paired with professional singers in the show, Kate sings live not only for a studio audience but also in front of a million-plus TV audience.

'I'm beginning to ask myself why I agreed to do it,' Kate said as she prepared for the show. 'As it draws nearer, I'm beginning to freak out about it.

'At first, I instantly thought there's no way I'm going to do that, but then I thought that I am a little conservative in my thinking sometimes.

'It's really important exercise for me to get out of my comfort zone a little bit.'
