A couple of other storylines to look forward to are:
-
Haha, not quite but that would make interesting viewing! It's just a performance that some characters take part in at the surf club. Bit more info on it in the article on the main site which might jog your memory. Though saying that a real life Home and Away Musical with some of the cast did make it's way to UK stages in 1989! It's amazing the episodes that stick with people, normally it's births, deaths, marriages and departures but the musical always sticks in my mind. I think it's because I really hated the way Shane was behaving. He had a good reason, Tug had to pay for setting him up and having him put inside. What did you want Shane to do, shake his hand?
-
The music used in the final episode of 1992 was great! It is a pity none have been released on CD or iTunes or anywhere. Particularly: • Shane being carted away • Fin and Blake's diving misadventure (part of which re-occurs during Andrew Warren's downfall) Were they all composed by Mike Perjanik?
-
She made her own choice, she made her bed, she can bloody well lie in it instead of crying to Pippa and Alsa about it and making it everyone else's problem. The fact remains, she was under 18, and was not capable of making a good choice, and being so insistent, she can WEAR THE CONSEQUENCES!!!! What the hell is so "random deranged sanctimonious twaddle" about that AY?????

Errr..... what do you mean I am discrediting Sophie by blaming David?? What do you mean by discredit? Are you suggesting it's a credit that Sophie opened her legs to this monster (oh sorry — I mean respectable man who knows and stays within all about boundaries in relationships) and you're saying I'm giving all the credit to David because he ****ed her, wheres I should be giving Sophie some credit for opening her legs to him?
-
Are you forgetting how long Sophie has known this poor bastard who is as innocent as the day is long, couldn't hurt a fly and the sun shines out of him? He appeared in only 15 episodes, which represents a time span (on-screen at least) of not even a month. It's like Marilyn's hideously rushed decision to marry Phil, who was a complete stranger just 2 weeks before she left the Bay with him. What makes you so sure Sophie's wild fling with David was "love" and not just some overblown infatuation. You are so sure he was not a criminal, and boo hoo, the poor innocent little man didn't deserve to have his life cut short in such sad, tragic circumstances (oh purlease!,..... :sniffle sniffle:) for what is classed in some parts of the world as statutory rape. The fact remains, despite what you think that Sophie was a willing participant, she was under 18 years of age. Not yet an adult. Argue till the cows come home that the age of consent in NSW is 16 but the fact remains, Sophie had a lot of potential to do well at school, and make a decent future for herself, only to have it robbed from her, replaced by teenage motherhood and facing the dilemma of having to give up her child because she is not equipped to cope. And you say "love" justifies all this???

Red Ranger 1, you seem to forget a few basic facts: 1. The baby would not have come about if they bothered to use contraceptives. It is not an assumption. That is a FACT. Unless the contraceptives failed somehow? 2. Sophie was not old enough to have children. Back then there was a recession, and there needed to be as many qualifications as possible for a chance at a decent future and to afford to bring up a baby. Sophie should have waited to complete her HSC and got herself a well-paid job in order to provide for this baby Why are you condoning teenage pregnancy so much, Red Ranger 1? Do you realise that it is not good for either the mother or the baby to have a future of uneducated poverty? As is being proved on-screen, Sophie is not ready, it is as plain as the nose on my face!!!!
-
Sophie still had a year of school to go, she wasn't ready to have a baby with this c!#*. Anyone with half a brain uses contraceptives unless they want to be weighed down with a baby before they have set up house together with a HSC and a well-paid job. Being "in love" is no excuse for such irresponsible behaviour and failure to take precautions. David never faced the music for making Sophie pregnant because he got killed. Simon took the heat instead from Michael. "Tamara" should never have been born in the first place, so BAD LUCK "she" didn't have a father. It is a pity Karen didn't get rid of this mongrel before the damage was done. There is no question that the lack of contraceptives is criminal. SOPHIE WAS NOT READY!!!
-
You can thank David for all the misery he brought on to Sophie for the off-screen act of stupidity that went on before his death. Every time we have to endure these scenes of Sophie suffering, makes you hate David even more and more for the crimes he committed against her (and she was stupid enough to open her legs for him, not even bothering to try to use any contraceptives), see why I commented on this creature when the storyline was being aired last year????

It has been such a long wait J laur5. We first saw the repeats of the early episodes way back in 1999—2000, then we stopped around mid-1990 in May 2002. It wasn't until 2009 when 7TWO was launched and we started from the beginning again.

Provoked him? By saying his dad's a gorilla, so what? He did lay the traps that he got caught in, and Tug did help his father rip off the boat shed remember. Also, don't forget that Greg and Bobby have to live together and so deserves SOME say, especially if Bobby's decisions are seen to be crazy. I couldn't agree with you more about Sophie though. I should add that Sophie brought it all on herself in the first place I mean didn't she realise the consequences of what she was doing when she let David into her pants while protesting so loudly to be allowed to see him back then??

I'm on his side when it comes to Tug, I think it's unfair that Bobby is stubbornly supporting Tug against him. -
Ah yes, the chain of events with Tug and the dog traps. No wonder I got hooked on Home And Away.

Though I'm not quite sure a full transcription of the scene quite fits into our '5 line signature' rule now does it? Hi Dan F, I'm happy to modify my signature if you so wish so as to reduce it to comply with the 5-line rule. Just let me know to confirm. Cheers.
-
I sure did! — that would have to be one of the all-time most hilarious scenes by the Summer Bay ball of flame.
-
I had no idea Loo worked at the school at all until I saw the 7TWO repeats!
-
Sophie finally started driving you nuts now Natasha. She started driving me nuts the moment she invited David into her pants. Ever since then, she's been a write-off.
-
He wanted a girlfriend to "tug" at his you-know-what downstairs (which may be unsuitable for this part of the forum, sorry if this isn't clean, Dan F)

Oh my god Red Ranger1.....I mean how can you justify the way Sophie is carrying on? Can't bear to be in the same room as him, going on to Blake about how she just can't stand his "meaty hands", not wanting to face him when arguing her case? Jeez, talk about WEAK! That bitch really makes my blood boil the way she snivels and carries on, she's not much bigger than the brat in the pram she bends her head down to the pram smile at (all the while going on about the anti-discrimination board). Sophie gets herself pregnant, throws her life away and wastes her abilities for the sake of this hideously overblown crush by the name of David (taxing herself to tears for the rest of her miserable existence over someone she only knew a couple of weeks), then complains and complains about the consequences of teenage motherhood like it never ever is her fault. People like her make me SICK :grr:
-
Red Ranger, maybe so in a few extreme cases of lack of respect but do you really think that many bosses were (or are) really like that, and also, may I ask, why the does Sophie whine about other stuff besides the one late-night kiss when Sophie worked back late? All I saw was Mr Smithers innocently showing Sophie what task was to be done when she was sitting at her desk, when he said he can't show her "from the other side of the room!". Oh and as for brushing past her? oh for god sake..... see it makes her sound like a whingeing attention-seeker when she complains about things like that!

Mrs Tuffy seemed to have trouble speaking, was she a mute? Shane, Damian and everyone else took an instant liking to Kelly, while Alf admired her skill at maths (even saying she had a 30MB brain, this is 1992: back in the days of 2MB RAM and 20MB HDD computers).

The Handbag Brigade from Destroy The Joint comes out in full force, whoever was writing the storyline of Sophie and Mr Smithers back in 1992.
