Extended Summary

Mackenzie is lighting candles around the farm house. Levi arrives home and she says an anniversary doesn’t just have to last one day: She has managed to rearrange the rosters so they have tonight and all of tomorrow together. She checks Levi has the day off and he confirms he does. At Salt, Harper asks Dana exactly what Xander said. Dana says he cancelled their weekend together. Harper doesn’t think it’s that big a deal and thinks Dana’s feeling like this because boyfriends have treated her badly in the past. Dana admits she’s lonely. Harper says Dana has her. Dana agrees but says Harper’s not him.

Leah and Marilyn arrive at the Diner, having got their instructions from Roo; Marilyn has been told to keep Alf away from the construction site. Marilyn isn’t keen on the idea of lying to Alf and John doesn’t calm her nerves by saying the whole scheme falls apart without her. John is also curious about where the money’s come from while Marilyn says Justin’s running the project, not him. Justin and Leah try to play peacemaker.

Next morning, John runs into Tane in the street. Tane is in a hurry to get away, explaining they have another ultrasound today. Harper turns up and John comments on getting pregnant being the secret to falling in love. After John’s gone, Harper tells Tane that Dana needs cheering up. Tane realises she wants Dana to accompany her, to which he agrees. Harper is convinced it will cheer her up.

Not long after, Harper and Dana are sitting in silence at the hospital and Harper says she’s checking Dana’s still breathing. Dana says it’s not a weekend away with her boyfriend but is glad Harper invited her. Harper mentions Dana’s nephew and Dana picks up on the fact they’re having a boy. Meanwhile, John and Justin pull up in the caravan park with their supplies; Roo is off dealing with the council. John is worried how Alf will react. Justin says it might not be the bait shop Alf wants but it’s the one he deserves. John says if it goes wrong he was never there.

Leah turns up at the house and tells Alf she’s there to borrow a cook book from Marilyn. Alf is somewhat bemused but leaves them to it. Leah explains Roo sent her to check on Marilyn. All Marilyn can think of is to watch a movie with Alf but Leah says it needs to be something Alf wants to do. Marilyn gives Leah a cook book and she leaves as Alf comes back. Alf says he’s going to go and sort out the things he and Justin collected from the bait shop. Marilyn quickly fakes a funny turn to stop him going.

At the farm house, Mackenzie has just got up and joins Levi, who draws her attention to the fact they have the place to themselves. Mackenzie thinks Levi must have bribed the others but Levi says Mali had some boards to deliver and Abigail went with him. Mackenzie suggests having champagne in the gazebo and Levi suggests a fancy meal out…so Mackenzie goes to check they have champagne and Levi goes to make a booking.

Harper and Dana are in the room with the sonographer, who begins doing the scan. The scan shows a strong heart beat and Harper and Dana marvel over the image. The sonographer suddenly stops, pausing the image, and says she needs to ask a doctor about something. Meanwhile, Justin is measuring up for the build while John mostly seems to be sitting around, wondering when Leah’s going to get there with the food. Justin asks John to pass the tape measure and John insists he’s not his lackey until realising it’s in his pocket. Leah arrives with coffee and sandwiches but moments later gets a text from Marilyn asking for help. John points out Alf will be suspicious if she comes straight back so Leah takes his sandwich as cover.

Alf has set Marilyn up on the couch as Leah arrives back with the sandwich for him. Alf is bemused she came back just for that. Marilyn tells Leah about her supposed dizzy spell. Leah says she felt the same and there must be something going around, telling Alf to go upstairs and lie down so he doesn’t catch something from them. Later, Justin is continuing the work while Leah and Marilyn explain to John what they did. They note they’d better get back to the house before Alf works out they’re not there. In fact, Alf is watching from some bushes and smiles.

Dr Shaw has now joined Harper, Dana and the sonographer. She says the scan shows some shadowing near the lung lining. Harper protests that everyone told her the baby was healthy. The sonographer says these things don’t always show up straightaway and Shaw says she has to consult with her colleagues. Later, Harper convinces Dana to go and talk to someone, saying they’ll talk to a nurse. Dana listens in as Shaw speaks to someone on the phone, saying she doesn’t have the experience or resources to deal with it and asking for an emergency consult.

Mackenzie and Levi have got dressed up for their dinner out. Before they can leave, Levi gets a phone call from work and says he’s needed for an emergency consult in obstetrics. Mackenzie understands. At the hospital, Harper presses Dana for information and Dana admits it sounds serious. Harper calls Tane but can’t bring herself to say anything. Dana takes the phone and tells Tane to get there.

Levi arrives at the hospital where Shaw, the sonographer and another doctor show him the 26-week scan. Levi says he’s never seen anything like it in a patient that young. Tane also arrives at the hospital and meets Harper and Dana, just before a nurse arrives to collect Harper and Tane. They meet with the doctors and are surprised to see Levi there. Levi explains the scan shows a cyst on the baby’s lung, which can be serious.
