Extended Summary

Ziggy and Dean are at Salt together and Ziggy challenges Dean to come up with a hundred reasons for her to move back in with him. Dean quick rattles off four: Amber knows the score; Dean wouldn’t let her cause problems anyway; Ziggy’s missing doing this every night; she lives too far away from the surf. (During this, he gets a call from Amber but doesn’t notice it.) Willow arrives while they’re chatting and says there’s a problem with Colby. Ziggy goes to get drinks. Seeing how happy Dean is, Willow decides not to tell him. At the motel, Colby gives Taylor a drink. She isn’t sure she should be there and Colby asks what she’d be doing instead. She admits she’d be at home on her own debating what colour to paint the bathroom. Colby says she doesn’t have to be on her own. He puts her drink down and leads her to the bed.

At the Diner, Irene suggests John go home to work but he says it’s too quiet there. He is working on a speech for his first meeting back and offers to read it to her but she retorts that she needs to stick some pins in her eyes instead. Amber and Jai enter looking for Dean; Jai has done a drawing that he wanted to show him. John looks at it instead and invites them to join him for dessert, even offering to pay. Jai is keen but Amber says another time. Irene looks at John thoughtfully. Back in Salt, Jasmine joins the group and provides No 37 on Dean’s list: It saves on rent. As Dean and Ziggy continue with the list, oblivious to the others, Willow and Jasmine decide to walk home together. Ziggy also says she has to go: She declines to go home with Dean but says she’ll meet him for a surf and the other sixty reasons tomorrow. Dean sees the missed call from Amber but doesn’t do anything about it.

Next morning, Willow comes to the flat looking for Colby. Dean says he didn’t come home last night and assumes he had a night shift. He gets a text from Ziggy about meeting for a surf and Willow again decides not to tell him what’s going on. At the motel, Colby and Taylor are in bed alongside each other. Taylor’s phone flashes up a message from Angelo. Colby moves to look at it but stops when Taylor wakes up. He encourages her to look at the message but she says she’s not going to read a text from her husband while in bed with another man. Despite this, she admits she doesn’t feel guilty about cheating on Angelo. Colby says she’s obviously been neglected for a long time but Taylor says she has to go.

Willow is still at the flat when Colby arrives back. She asks if he was with Taylor last night but he says it’s none of her business and shuts himself in his room. Down in the Diner, Irene tells Alf they need to talk about John. Alf left his phone behind to stop John ringing him about the meeting. Irene thinks John’s distracting himself from loneliness, pointing out Marilyn has people around her but he doesn’t. They reflect that at first he had his recovery to focus on and Amber around, but now the rot’s setting in.

At Salt, John is trying to convince Jasmine to come along to the committee meeting, suggesting she bring Willow, Dean and Mack. Jasmine says she’ll check her diary. At a nearby table, Dean gives Ziggy Reason 98: She loves him. When he flounders, she points out No 99 should be that he loves her and he says No 100 is he needs her to point these things out. Dean asks for one reason why she shouldn’t move back in. Amber and Jai arrive and Ziggy gives them space. Dean apologises for missing her call and says they’ll go down the beach. At the bar, Jasmine suggests Ziggy join them, saying she went through the same thing with Grace and it’s only Ziggy keeping herself out of it. Down on the beach, John tries showing Alf his speech. Alf thinks it’s too long but says he’ll look over it over a coffee together, then go with him to the committee meeting, then put him on a train to the city: Jett’s expecting him. John is pleased and says Alf’s a good mate. He goes to put his arm round him, then thinks better of it.

Taylor is heading towards the Diner flat when she gets another text from Angelo. She doesn’t look at it but does turn away, then runs into Jasmine, who offers to buy her a coffee. Up in the flat, Colby is still trying to get rid of Willow but she says he’s making bad decisions that affect all of them, pointing out she broke the law for him by lying to the police yesterday. Colby says he can handle things from now on but Willow wonders how sleeping with Angelo’s wife is doing that. Dean arrives in time to overhear and wonders the same thing.

In the Diner, Jasmine asks Taylor how she’s handling being in the Bay. Taylor says she and Angelo move around a lot for his work but he’s always spending more time on the case than with her. Jasmine explains she was married to a Federal cop. Taylor asks if she left him. Jasmine says he died before noting that she knows it can be isolating but it’s why they love them. Up in the flat, Dean and Willow continue to accuse Colby of playing with fire. Colby insists he’s in control of the situation and Angelo won’t find out but eventually agrees to end things with Taylor. He leaves. Dean doesn’t believe him, telling Willow he’s going to drag all of them down with him.

Sure enough, Colby and Taylor are meeting at the motel again. They both say they don’t want it to end like it did before and kiss. Meanwhile, Dean meets with Amber and Jai at Salt but says he has to cancel. Jai accepts it but is disappointed. Amber is unimpressed that he arranged to have lunch with Jai and then let him down.

Amber chases after Dean as he exits the surf club, leaving Jai sat outside, and gives him Jai’s school photo, saying Jai was excited to give it to him. She tells him you don’t get to bring your children down if you’re having a bad day and isn’t mollified by Dean saying he was trying not to drag Jai down. Dean heads back to the flat and pins the photo on the fridge. Ziggy calls out from the bedroom, saying she’s moved back in. She hugs Dean but he doesn’t respond. Confused, she says it’s as if he doesn’t want her to move in anymore. Dean says he doesn’t.
