Extended Summary
At the Surf Club, Bella questions whether she really needs to go to counselling, unaware that Colby knows of her lie that the last session went well. They meet Dean who’s playing pool but are disrupted by Ryder who rushes to get Dean for Mackenzie. When he leaves, Ryder tells Bella he got the keys to his car. Colby leaves the pair alone, and Bella takes the opportunity to inform Ryder that she was hospitalised before the siege due to taking an overdose. Shocked, Ryder believes it’s integral that she goes to her counselling session. After a discussion about Ryder’s car, Bella is tracked down by Patricia. Reluctantly, Bella goes for her session. At the end, Patricia urges Bella to open up about her father, believing her issues stem from him.
In Salt, Mackenzie explains she’s paying the money back to Rick, but Jason is adamant he wants his share. Dean threatens him and he storms off. Afterwards, Mackenzie explains that they dated for a year, and he was the one that taught her how to get into Rick’s bank account. Once Dean leaves, Jason fronts Mackenzie again, threatening to go to the police with evidence of her embezzlement if she doesn’t hand over the money. Ryder texts Dean and lets him know that Jason is back. This time, Dean’s with Colby and asks him to accompany him.
When they arrive at Salt, Colby threatens to arrest Jason for extortion with menace if he doesn’t leave. Before he does, Dean takes a photo of his ID for insurance purposes, should he feel the need to harass Mackenzie again. Later in the day, after wishing Ryder luck for his first day of TAFE, Mackenzie thanks him for being there for her. Elsewhere, Dean asks to move into the apartment. Excited by the prospect, Colby agrees.
Marilyn explains that she’s grateful to Ari after his efforts in the hospital and is trying to repay the favour. John doesn’t want them in the house, but Marilyn has put her foot down. While the Paratas wait, Gemma explains that they’ll just stay in the car again, but Nikau suggests the caravan park. Ari and Nikau go to discuss with Roo, hopeful they can pay when their money woes are over. Roo decides to give them a chance, but the van is only big enough for two. Ari says Nikau and Gemma can stay in the van and he’ll find an alternative.
After Gemma fills Marilyn in on the plan to stay in the caravan park and the idea is rejected, Ari goes to John with an alternative: he’ll stay in the caravan and Gemma and Nikau stay with him. John can’t believe they went to Roo, but Ari assures John that all he is doing by not helping them out is upsetting Marilyn.
Back at John & Marilyn’s house, Gemma and Nikau pamper Marilyn, while Ari fixes the table. After a chat with Roo that changes his perspective, John rushes home and assures the Paratas that they are more than welcome to stay for two weeks.
