Extended Summary
Roo and Maggie are continuing to run over everything at the farm house. Maggie wonders if Irene’s said anything about how Leah was when she got the phone call. Roo goes to call her. Ben has wandered in while they were talking and he and Maggie establish that Roo is staying in Coco’s room to give Alf and Martha some space. Roo comes back in from talking to Irene and says that Leah was in a rush when she came back but they all assumed she was going to see Justin. They decide to go to bed.
At the Diner flat, Colby is trying to talk Jasmine out of moving out, saying he and Bella will look after her like Robbo wanted. Jasmine says while she’s there she’s waiting for Robbo to come back and suggests she could move into Irene’s. Colby tells her to get some rest. Jasmine can’t go back to her room. Colby offers his, saying he’ll sleep on the couch, but Jasmine decides to stay there. She lies down on the couch, pulls a cover over her and turns the TV on, while Colby goes back to his room and sits with his head in his hands.
Next morning, Alf (who is at the caravan park with Martha) is on the phone to Roo (who is still with Ben and Maggie at the farm house). Roo refuses to come home after only one night. Alf says there are things they need to talk to her and Ryder about. Roo says she’s busy that morning and Ryder has gone to Yabbie Creek for TAFE, so it’ll have to be later. After she’s ended the call, Roo and Maggie decide to go to Yabbie Creek to put posters of Leah up.
Colby and Bella are having a rather awkward breakfast. Jasmine emerges from her room. Colby tries to get her to eat with them but she heads out for a run. Bella suggests to Colby they help her but Colby wants Bella to focus on the counselling, reminding her Irene’s support group helped. Bella says she doesn’t want to sit in a stuffy office and she could lose Colby if the wrong thing comes out. Colby says it won’t come to that and she needs help.
Later, Colby leads Bella to meet the counsellor, Patricia, by the beach, reminding her she said she didn’t want to meet in an office. Bella isn’t keen on everyone on the beach hearing either. Patricia greets them and Colby leaves them to it. Bella continues to seem less than enthusiastic as Patricia comments on not getting to the beach enough.
Jasmine is going for a run on the beach. Irene tries to greet her as she passes but Jasmine doesn’t respond, speeding up past her. Irene goes to the Diner and asks Colby about Jasmine. Colby mentions her wanting to move out. Irene doesn’t think it’s a bad idea, since it’ll get her away from reminders of Robbo. Colby wants to help her but Irene suggests he has his hands full with Bella. She notes Bella was okay at the support group after a rocky start and suggests Colby have a surf while waiting for her.
Patricia tries to get Bella to discuss what happened. Bella says Colby has already told Patricia everything. Patricia says she was told Bella took pills she hadn’t been prescribed to make herself sick and asks if she did it to get Colby’s attention. She notes Colby is Bella’s only family since her father left and suggests it might be hard not knowing if her father will come back. Bella snaps that she doesn’t want to talk about that and walks off. Later, Bella meets Colby on the beach after his surf. Colby asks her about the counselling session. Bella said it was a bit weird at first but it was good to talk about it and Patricia’s cool for a counsellor. Colby is pleased.
Roo and Maggie arrive back at the farm house. They tell Ben that no-one they spoke to had heard of Leah but they put up the posters and have got people thinking about her. Roo tries to convince Maggie that they’ve achieved something. Meanwhile, Jasmine arrives back at the Diner flat, closely followed by Irene, who tells her what Colby said. Jasmine confirms she’s tired of the reminders of Robbo. Irene offers to let Jasmine move back in with her, saying she can stay as long as she wants.
Outside the surf club, Colby sends Bella to get food. He notices Patricia sat nearby and asks her about booking another session. Patricia suggests she find a colleague who might be a better match for Bella, saying Bella wasn’t engaging and there’s no point if she isn’t. At the Diner flat, Jasmine packs her bags, leaving a number of boxes in her room, and rejoins Irene. Colby and Bella arrive and Colby is surprised that Jasmine is moving out so quickly. Jasmine says some of the boxes are going to the Shaws and some into storage. She hugs Bella and Colby goodbye before leaving with Irene.
Roo arrives back at the caravan park house and quips to Alf and Martha that it feels like only yesterday she was last there. Ryder also appears and wonders if Alf and Martha ran out of crosswords to do… hastily adding “if that’s what they were doing”. Alf produces a bag and he and Martha explain they’ve decided to go on a proper honeymoon, starting immediately. Martha says they’re going to see Alf’s sisters and Alf says there was no time to invite them to the wedding. They say their goodbyes.
Bella dishes up lunch and asks about taking over Jasmine’s room. Colby says they’ll need someone else to pay the rent. He tries asking her what she said in counselling and Bella says it’s private and confidential. She suddenly decides to forget about lunch and go and meet Ryder in Yabbie Creek for a movie. Colby gives her some money and says he’s pleased she’s giving counselling a try and has booked her in for another session. Bella doesn’t give anything away and Colby looks frustrated.
Roo and Maggie meet up at Salt. Maggie has been thinking: None of Leah’s family and friends know anything so perhaps she’s part of some other group. She suggests the phone call was someone deliberately targeting her. Roo remembers Leah getting the members of Irene’s support group to post messages on her website. She comments that Leah shut it down, but when they open it up, they find a comment posted that day, supposedly by Leah. (It states that she was wrong about men being the enemy and toxic feminism is the problem, with at least one comment disagreeing.)
Colby is on the phone to Patricia and books Bella in for two sessions a week. He notes down the cost of the session, $500, on a budget he is preparing and looks deflated. At the Diner, Maggie and Roo are showing the website and the new post to Irene. Irene is baffled, recalling how Leah shut the site down because it had become toxic and says she’d never start it up again. Maggie wonders who did.
