Extended Summary

Tori and Justin arrive home with Grace. Justin hides the paper with Robbo and Mason’s pictures on it. Tori comments on Grace sleeping through the flight and wonders if they should have left Brody and Raffy so soon. She also wonders why she hasn’t heard from Robbo since she saw him in hospital and goes to call him. Justin convinces her to have a sleep first and says he’ll feed Grace.

Marilyn also arrives home, on the phone to John, saying he and Jett don’t need to worry and she just wants some quiet time at home before going to work. She goes into the bathroom to do her make-up but is overwhelmed by flashbacks to being threatened during the siege which reduce her to tears.

Justin is walking Grace near the beach and stops, looking at the Diner flat. Marilyn also appears and the sight of him gives her a flashback to Mason dying. Justin sees her and comes over, checking how she is. He notes Raffy’s upset and Marilyn says she and John have been talking to her. Justin walks on and moments later, Ari appears, having been fishing. He notes he didn’t catch anything so it’ll be noodles again tonight. He says he has to go to the hospital to get signed off from work. Marilyn says she couldn’t go back there and Ari says he doesn’t have any choice. Marilyn says she never found the book she was looking for. As they’re about to go their separate ways, Marilyn invites Ari for a coffee.

Back at the caravan park house, Alf asks Roo why she didn’t tell them what was going on. Roo says it was Ryder’s decision and he was embarrassed. Martha notes Roo was right about Jade being bad news. Alf says he’ll deal with her. Roo tells him not to throw her out, since they don’t want her to make more false accusations against Ryder. Alf asks what he can do. Roo says Ryder needs help to fight the charges but is refusing to see a lawyer. Alf says he can help with that.

At the Diner, Marilyn tells Ari she looked for him when it was over and he says he couldn’t wait to get out of there. Ari gets a text from Gemma saying someone isn’t answering her calls. Moments later, Nikau comes in with Jade and Ari asks him why he isn’t calling his mother. Nikau ignores him and drags Jade back out. Ari tells Marilyn that’s his nephew; Nikau’s dad is dead but his mum is around. He says he has to get going and Marilyn says the coffee’s her shout. She writes something on a napkin, suggesting his family come over for dinner later.

Ari catches up with Nikau and Jade in a park area and suggests he give Nikau a lift back to the motel to see Gemma. Jade mocks the idea and Ari asks who she is before saying it’s family business. Jade kisses Nikau goodbye and tells him to let her know if he still wants to have dinner with her. Nikau isn’t happy with Ari, blaming him for something he did to his dad. Ari says he’s not going to stop caring for him or making things easier for Gemma, suggesting they put aside their differences for her sake.

Ari and Nikau meet with Gemma in a car park. Nikau apologises for not answering her calls and Ari claims they were fishing together. He mentions Marilyn inviting them to dinner. Nikau says he has plans but Ari tells him to change them and Gemma agrees it’s a good way to meet people. Ari says he’ll meet them at the motel after he’s been to hospital.

Ryder rejoins Alf, Martha and Roo downstairs and apologises for dumping everything on them like that. He wonders what the celebration is about and Alf explains he asked Martha to marry him again and she said yes. Ryder congratulates them. Alf tells him the truth will out but he needs the help of a lawyer to find it. Ryder doesn’t think anyone will believe him over Jade. Alf tells him not to let anyone shame him into keeping quiet. Ryder agrees to see a lawyer.

Marilyn greets Ari, Gemma and Nikau at the Palmer house. Ari introduces Gemmas as his sister-in-law and Marilyn expresses her condolences for the death of her husband. Ari reveals he asked around at the hospital and has found the memory book. Nikau presents Marilyn with a bottle which he says was the cheapest in the shop. Marilyn explains John is in the city visiting Jett, pointing to a photo of him in uniform. Gemma says it’s good to see a young man with a sense of purpose. Nikau thinks it’s a dig at him and says he had a job that he liked and had to leave it. Ari says he’ll find another one.

Tori comes back from her sleep and finds Justin looking after Grace. She wants to call Jasmine to find out how Robbo is doing. Justin stops her, saying he needs to tell her something. Tori fears more bad news and realises it’s about Robbo. Justin says he doesn’t know exactly what happened but Robbo didn’t make it. Tori takes Grace from him and cradles her, saying she’ll never leave her.

As they settle down to eat, Marilyn talks about how she wouldn’t have got through everything at the hospital without Ari. Nikau is unimpressed, saying it sounds as though Ari got out the first chance he had. Marilyn protests he was a hero who got people out. Nikau asks how many he got out and how many he left behind, including Marilyn. He announces he’s lost his appetite and leaves. Gemma apologises to Marilyn and goes after him. Marilyn tells Ari to go after them as well.

Next morning, Marilyn calls round on Tori and expresses her sympathy about Robbo before presenting the memory book, saying she had some help getting it back. She says she knows memories are important, especially now. After Marilyn has gone, Tori looks over photos of Robbo with Grace, including one of the three of them together.

Ari and Gemma are walking near the beach, commenting on how Nikau didn’t say anything last night and disappeared first thing. Gemma also knows Ari lied about Nikau going fishing with him. They see Nikau kissing Jade outside the Diner. Ryder also sees and tells Nikau not to say he didn’t warn him. Nikau accuses Ryder of stalking again and Ryder says he doesn’t care what Jade does. Ari and Gemma go over to Nikau and Ari moves off to let mother and son talk.

Inside, Roo excitedly tells Marilyn about Alf and Martha getting married but Marilyn’s congratulations are muted. Ari, Nikau and Gemma come in. Marilyn introduces Alf, Martha and Roo to them and Ari explains their relationships. Alf wonders if they’re sticking around and Ari says they’re still deciding. Nikau apologies to Marilyn for dinner and she offers them the breakfast special on the house. Roo quietly asks Alf if Marilyn’s all right and he suggests keeping an eye on her.

Justin arrives home with a takeaway. Tori has found the paper and learned Robbo died two days ago. Justin admits Colby phoned him on the way to Melbourne but says they had their own grief to deal with. Tori is angry that he let her think there was hope and didn’t let her be there for Jasmine. Justin protests that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Tori tells him to get out and he does. She sits in the bedroom cradling Grace. Justin walks down the beach and lets out a yell of frustration before sinking to his knees, sobbing, as waves wash around him.
