Extended Summary

Ross runs through the bush. Dean continues to hold Willow as Colby unties Chelsea, who rushes to tend to Willow, stemming the bleeding with her top. Colby angrily chases after Ross. Dean fails to get reception and hands his phone to Bella, telling her to keep trying. Chelsea tells Dean to go after Colby. Ross runs to where he has a car parked and, despite fumbling with the keys, manages to start the engine before Colby arrives. Colby fruitlessly chases him on foot before giving a roar of frustration. Dean suddenly speeds up in his car and tells Colby to get in.

Ziggy greets Ben after he finishes a surf and notes she’s got a date, explaining it’s a year since she and Brody became a couple. She notes it’s Ben’s fault that it took so long, reminding him he banned her from seeing Brody then whacked him in the head. Ben admits he was wrong and says he wouldn’t want anyone else for her. Back at Salt, Simone asks Brody if she’s imagining things about the previous night. Brody admits it did mean something but says it doesn’t matter because he’s married. Simone says she’ll stay if he wants her to but Brody tells her to go, thinking it’ll be best to put some distance between them.

Chelsea says Willow’s going into shock and thinks she has a punctured lung. She sends Bella to get her bag from the car, since she needs a credit card or license. Bella runs to the car, grabs the bags and heads back. Meanwhile, Colby asks Dean if Willow is okay but Dean doesn’t answer. Colby tells him to keep Ross in sight. Ross slows down and Colby tells Dean to go alongside him. However, Ross has reloaded his gun and, despite Colby telling Dean to brake, manages to shoot out a tyre and bring them to a halt.

Brody joins Ben and Ziggy outside the surf club. With a bit of prompting from Ziggy, Ben says he was wrong about Brody, calling him the son he never had minus the surfing skills. As Brody and Ziggy walk on the beach, Ziggy comments on things being perfect. Brody is rather muted and Ziggy wonders if Ben embarrassed him. Brody says he was just thinking about work but is all hers from now on.

Dean tells Colby that the nearest servo is half an hour away and Colby berates him for not carrying a spare tyre. Dean suggests they call the police. Seeing a land rover approach, Colby waves it down and says he’s a police officer. The unlucky driver points out he doesn’t have a badge but Colby says he’s commandeering the vehicle and he and Dean head off after Ross. Meanwhile, Chelsea holds the card over Willow’s wound, stopping air from escaping. She is worried that Ross is still around so tells Bella to stay with Willow and hold the card in place while she goes to get reception.

Ziggy reflects on everything she and Brody have been through over the year and suggests the day is a good time for a fresh start. She recalls how they once went swimming together, with Brody stripping down to his jocks, and suggests a repeat, starting to strip off. Brody abruptly stops her, saying he has to get back to work. Meanwhile, an ambo brings Willow into hospital with Chelsea and Bella following, telling Doctor Genner that she crashed in the ambulance but was revived. Chelsea tries to lead Bella away but they both stop when alarms starting going off; the nurses start chest compressions and Genner says Willow needs to get to theatre straightaway.

Ben finds Ziggy at the Diner and wonders what happened with Brody. Ziggy blames herself for pushing things and says every time she tries to talk to him things get worse. Meanwhile, Brody goes to his van outside Salt and sees Simone standing by her car looking upset. Simone says she just needed a moment and reflects on finally meeting someone she could see a future with only for him to be taken. She notes maybe if they’d met in different circumstances. She goes to leave but Brody stops her and kisses her, asking if they can go somewhere.

Chelsea is on the phone to McCarthy, telling him how she last saw Colby, Ross and Dean and giving a description of Dean’s car. She rejoins Bella, who says doctors have been going in and out of Willow’s room and notes at the wedding everything was perfect. Chelsea says it will be again. She calls Colby’s voicemail and asks him to call them. Meanwhile, Colby and Dean sneak up on Ross’ vehicle. He finally realises who they are and floors it. Both vehicles go off road into wasteland, driving in a large arc and ending up facing each other. Ross tries to hit reverse but his car is bogged. He races from the vehicle, dropping his gun in the process. Dean tackles him to the ground and repeatedly hits him. Colby picks up the gun and stalks over to Ross, his expression furious. Dean tells him to put the gun down. Colby shows no sign of doing so.
