Jasmine’s stalker shows his true colours. Colby confronts Tori over her obsession with Robbo. Can Ryder cure Alf’s bad case of the grumps?
Extended Summary
Tori meets Justin on the beach and teases him about his surfing; she has just got back to town from her yoga retreat. She invites him for a coffee but he has to work and says Ash is still angry. Tori thought he’d get over it with Robbo gone. Justin tells her Robbo’s still at the police station. Tori heads down there and tells Colby she wants to see Robbo. Colby says only legal representation can see him but Tori replies that she’s his doctor and Colby admits no-one has checked on him. He takes her to the cell where she examines Robbo’s leg, which is healing. When Colby is called away, Tori asks Robbo about the photo; she wants him to remember more but he has no interest in getting the gory details. Colby returns and Tori asks him about Robbo getting a psych evaluation.
Jasmine reminds David that he’s breaking the AVO but David thinks that was a misunderstanding. He says that he knows he was full-on constantly calling her but she wasn’t replying. Jasmine tells him she was in hospital after a car accident, claiming it’s left her shaky. She adds that she was distracted after their last meeting. David seems momentarily guilty but isn’t going to back down. Up at the house, Ryder is trying to question Alf about Roo coming back but Alf storms away upstairs. Leah tries to tell Ryder to learn when to back off. Ryder takes some of the food she is making for lunch with Jasmine.
When Alf comes downstairs, he comments on Jasmine being late and offers to look by her van on his way to the beach. Ryder says he’ll meet Alf down there later with a surprise. Leah tells Alf not to bother Jasmine and he also takes some of the food as he leaves. Back at the van, David is telling Jasmine they were good together. Jasmine tries to end the conversation but David wants to know what he did wrong. Jasmine’s phone rings with a call from Leah but David takes it off her and demands some respect.
Alf runs into Justin on the beach while waiting for Ryder, who turns up with fishing gear. Ryder insists it was his idea, not Leah’s, and Alf agrees, although he says it’s better first thing in the morning. Nearby, Tori is making a call to the remand centre about Robbo. Justin hears and is frustrated that she’s still trying to help Robbo. Taking her a short distance away, he tells her that if she keeps getting involved she’s putting the family at risk as well as her relationship with Ash. He tells her that Brody knows about her helping Robbo and she’s threatening his good behaviour bond. He tries to get her to let it go but Tori walks away. Down the wharf, Alf is lecturing a rather squeamish Ryder on bait. Ryder is worried about Alf and Roo and thinks his bad behaviour hasn’t helped. Alf assures him it’s nothing to do with him.
Back at the van, Jasmine tries to suggest that not every relationship works out but David isn’t willing to listen. He refuses to leave without her and tells her to pack her bag. Jasmine says she needs to take her keys back to the house first. After a tense moment, David agrees. At the house, Leah is putting the lunch out when Jasmine and David arrive. Jasmine introduces David and Leah quickly works out the situation. Jasmine says they have to go but Leah insists they both stay for lunch and David eventually agrees. As Leah puts the key back, she looks extremely worried.
Tori is on the phone near the surf club to the remand centre and learns they don’t provide counselling. Colby arrives having found out the same thing. He says Robbo’s remand is being fast-tracked at last and he’ll be there by the end of the week. He also adds that Robbo clearly had help while he was on the run; his leg has been stitched, probably by a doctor. They head up to Salt where Tori confirms she examined Robbo when he first showed up and believes his memory loss to be real. Colby points out he kidnapped her but Tori says he was confused and wasn’t going to hurt her and she knew she could trust him, implying she and Colby should trust each other. She says Robbo got some of his memory back and knows his name is Ryan Shaw and his family was murdered. Colby skirts over the fact she knows what happened while he was on the run and agrees to look into it off the record.
Colby goes to see Robbo and asks for the photo. Robbo hands it over but says he wants it back. Colby checks the computer and gets no results for Ryan Shaw. He does a search for Lauren Shaw and gets the police report and a newspaper article saying she and her children, whose images match the photograph, were murdered in a home invasion. (Among the details visible are that she was a primary school teacher and her children were 6 and 4.) Colby meets Tori at Salt and tells her what he learned: The report says the bodies were found by a neighbour and there is no mention of a husband or partner, or of a father on the children’s birth certificates, nor any connection to Beckett Reid. He suggests Robbo could have been carrying around a photo of his victims but Tori insists she’s going to make sure he gets help. As they speak, Robbo lies silent in his cell.
As they eat, Leah tries to suggest Jasmine could stay longer. David begins to suspect Jasmine has been talking about him. Leah tells Jasmine to run but David grabs both their arms before they can really move. Ryder comes home, with Alf having gone to a meeting. Leah tries to get him to leave the house or go upstairs but David insists he stay. He orders all of them over to the couch and locks the door. Leah tries to convince him that if he goes they’ll say no more about it but David latches onto her, accusing her of poisoning Jasmine against him. Ryder tries to surreptitiously call 000 but David takes the phone off him. He insists he’s in control and no-one’s going anywhere until Jasmine agrees to come with him.
