Extended Summary

Kat pokes her head cautiously out of the bedroom, followed by Robbo doing the same thing. He reminds her that Scarlett said she wouldn’t be back until morning. Things are slightly awkward between them but Kat announces she’s going to go down the store to buy the ingredients to make him espanadas. Slightly bemused, Robbo kisses her and she agrees it can wait as they head back into the bedroom. At the beach house, Olivia is uploading photos to her site. She worries that it’s not balanced but Hunter sends the site live. Irene comes down and advises them to keep it down. Olivia doesn’t seem that keen to leave the site.

Mason and Beth have met up at the Diner. Mason wonders if they can do something the next day but Beth says her oxygen levels were low so she needs to go back to the hospital. Mason says he’ll see her there, since he has a physio appointment. Beth insists on paying and starts taking out the contents of her bag. Mason notices a bucket list among them. He insists Beth is going to get better but Beth doesn’t think the transplant will happen and abruptly leaves.

Next morning, Alf is on the pier with a pair of binoculars. Scarlett approaches with a box, ready to move into the flat. Alf points out a boat that he thinks is drifting. Scarlett suggests they take her boat out to have a look. Kat and Robbo are leaving the flat but quickly rush back in when they see Scarlett approaching. Kat tries to hide Robbo in the bathroom and then sneak him out while Scarlett puts her things in her room but Scarlett comes back sooner than expected and sees him. Robbo tries to pretend he’s only just arrived but is fooling no-one. After he’s gone, Scarlett tells Kat she’s happy if Kat’s happy, even though she still doesn’t trust Robbo.

Alf and Scarlett approach the drifting boat in their own craft, calling out. As they get closer, it is obvious that there is a large quantity of blood on deck and on the side of the boat, with a bullet hole in the cabin wall, and no sign of life. At the beach house, Olivia is checking her site obsessively, complaining that there hasn’t been any sales. Hunter points out she’s had four views but Olivia isn’t impressed. Irene closes up the laptop to try and get her to get ready for work but she just opens it up again.

Mason visits Beth in hospital; he is now down to just one walking stick. Beth says she’ll be out in an hour. Mason apologises for upsetting her. Beth says she’ll be dead in less than six months after having the virus for five years; she’s tired of waiting for a miracle and just wants to live her life. Mason suggests that miracles do happen, since she came into his life when he needed her. He offers to help her with the list and, after skimming over “first kiss”, decides there’s something they can do. Soon time later, Mason has a blindfolded Beth waiting by the rock pool. Beth complains that she drove them there so knows where they are. A car drives up and Mason takes off the blindfold; it belongs to Leon, a tattoo artist from Yabbie Creek who is going to give them both tattoos.

Irene notices Robbo has quickly polished off a meal at the Diner and he mentions he worked up an appetite. Kat comes in, also seemingly hungry. She tells Robbo that Scarlett knows about them. Robbo says he’s sorry before admitting that he really isn’t. He suggests they meet up again so she can make him her “espinidis” (as he pronounces it). However, they are interrupted by Scarlett saying she needs to speak to Kat. Shortly after, Alf, Kat and Scarlett watch as a police forensics team scour the boat. There was no-one on board and the boat isn’t one Alf is familiar with, but it’s not looking good for whoever’s blood it is. Alf mentions that he has to leave town to look after Morag.

Mason and Beth are at Salt and show each other their tattoos. Beth has had a small picture of birds flying out of a cage done, saying she admitted for the first time that she’s scared of dying and it made her feel free. Mason’s is a symbol that he says means family, which Koby once showed him. Beth briefly kisses Mason, who doesn’t react much, then rushes out. Mason finds her crying on the headland; he apologises and tries to get her to come back for lunch. Beth says she was stupid to think he’d be interested in her but Mason tells her he’s crazy about her. He kisses her for real, adding that that’s something else they can tick off the list before kissing her again.

At the Diner, Irene fills Marilyn in on the reason for the police presence. Olivia is in a bad mood, moving plates noisily. Irene explains about her website and Marilyn decides to check it out. Hunter turns up to be on the receiving end of more grumbling from Olivia, but her mood quickly changes when she gets a phone alert of a sale. She gets permission from Irene to leave work and deal with it. Heading back to the beach house, Olivia packages up the item while dictating to Hunter an acknowledgement message. However, when Hunter reads out the address, she realises it’s Marilyn and instantly deflates, calling it a pity sale.

Olivia gives the package to Marilyn at the Diner. Marilyn is impressed at getting it hand-delivered by the designer but Olivia is downcast as she reflects to Irene and Hunter how things aren’t going as well as she hoped. Nearby, Robbo and Scarlett run into each other. Robbo checks she’s okay with him dating Kat and Scarlett says she is as long as he treats her right. Later, Marilyn comes in to show off her new dress. Olivia thinks it’s not her usual style and offers her a refund but Marilyn insists she loves it and suggests it would look good on Irene in black. Olivia gets an alert to another sale and again gets permission to leave work to sort it.

Kat is on the phone at the police station and learns the boat’s registration number was a fake. She checks though the evidence bag and seems to recognise some sort of clip in one of them. She races back to the flat and asks Scarlett for the bag they found at Robbo’s camp. In it, she finds a broken watch that seems to match the clip. She deduces that Robbo was on the boat.
