Extended Summary

At the Morgan House, Scarlett arrives, giving Justin back his car keys and she gives him dice to hang from his rear-view mirror as a thank you. She informs him that she got all the way to Rockhampton, and he assures her that there is no sign of any of the men who were after her. Justin offers to comfort her the following day however as it’s the anniversary of her son’s death, but she politely declines, asking that he just mention something to Alf. The next morning, Scarlett walks through the bushland, listening to the songs of the birds, when she hears a young boy giggling and finds her son Max up a tree. She tells him to get down and suddenly a branch snaps, and Scarlett screams… waking her up from the nightmare she’s having.

Hunter quizzes Peggy in the Beach House – one of grandad’s friends got mum pregnant? Peggy assures him that Wally and his wife, Claire are a lot younger than she and Ernest are, but she always knew that Wally was a bit of a scoundrel. Peggy says that she had no idea that anything was happening, but it all makes sense. Peggy tells Hunter that she really thinks it could be him. The next day, Hunter tells Peggy that he’s been doing some internet searching, but without a photo it’ll be hard to find him. Peggy offers to give him one, but he politely declines – he seems like a bit of a dropkick. She tries to reassure Hunter of him, stating that he was for the, most part, a good person, and urges him to look past the mistakes.

In the Palmer House, Marilyn and Raffy discuss Brody’s bravery in capturing Zannis. Marilyn, however, assures Raffy that they love having her and that she can stay if she wants. Coco knocks at the door and Marilyn gives Raffy a twenty to treat herself and Coco. Down at the beach, Coco recounts her and Ziggy’s fight, and Raffy attempts to reassure her, telling her a story about how Hope cut her hair in her sleep. Coco tells her it’s different – everything Ziggy said was true, she has nothing going for her. Raffy heads off to get juices, promising to sort everything out when she gets back. Then, VJ comes up as Coco tries to take a selfie and offers to take one for her, leaving her speechless.

In the Diner, Coco tells Raffy that VJ thought she was a tourist, and Coco calls her a chicken for not wanting to do anything. Coco worries about the age difference, and Raffy relays that he does tend to be into older girls. Simple solution – they have to make VJ think Coco is older than she really is. Later, VJ enters and Raffy calls him over. Then, she begins speaking French* and VJ hears Coco reply “oui”, asking whether she speaks French. Raffy spins a story about how she moved to Summer Bay after completing high school last year and is studying arts at Northern Districts University – she’s Raffy’s French tutor. Raffy tells VJ that if he ever wants to learn French, Coco is happy to tutor, but Coco tells him that she’s not taking on any new students. He starts speaking in Greek (Translation: I’ll pass. It was hard enough learning Greek), and goes to head off, but Raffy says they’re finished their session and asks him to join them.

Justin knocks on Scarlett’s caravan door and she opens, looking under the weather. He suggests they go for a walk, or talk, but she dismisses – she just wants to be alone. Justin tries to comfort her by telling her that tomorrow is a new day but she says she wants all her old days back, before telling him to go and closing the door. At the Pier, Justin informs Alf that Scarlett is not in a good way, and Alf says he’ll pop in and see how she is. When there’s no response at Scarlett’s caravan, Alf enters to find an empty whiskey bottle on the table. Justin finds Scarlett at Salt and tells Alf that he’ll keep an eye on her. Justin urges Scarlett to let him take her home, but she assures him that she’s a big girl and can do what she wants. Justin moves over to the couches and sits, determined to keep an eye on her.

Down on Flat Beach, Olivia assures Hunter that he’ll make Wally’s life better eventually, but Hunter is concerned about how his wife reacts. Olivia tells him that it’s great he’s thinking it through, but it’s his chance to meet his real father. In the Diner, Coco tells VJ that it’s nice to see someone with a tattoo that means something. VJ offers to buy the next round of drinks, heads to the counter. Raffy tells Coco to just relax and be herself (despite her pretending to be someone else) and in walk Hunter and Olivia and question VJ about Coco. He’s worries that she’ll thinking differently if she knew he was in high school, but Hunter just tells him not to say anything. Then, after VJ heads back to the girls, Peggy texts Hunter and tells him that she has the photo of Wally. At the Beach House, Peggy gives Hunter the photo and points out the resemblance. Overwhelmed, Hunter heads off for a walk to clear his head. Back at the Diner, Raffy has left and Coco and VJ establish that they are both bad at small talk, when Coco gets a text from Maggie asking where she is. Coco tells VJ that she has to leave. VJ asks for her number and VJ says “au revoir”. Later that night, Hunter heads home and Olivia informs him that Peggy has gone back to the hotel. Hunter tells her that while he doesn’t want to turn up on Wally’s doorstep, he might write her a letter, which he gets started on straight away.

At Salt, Justin hands Scarlett a glass of water and moves off as a man comes over and begins chatting her up – but Justin interjects. It’s time for her to call it a day – it’s almost over and he knows how hard the day must be, but Scarlett tells him that he has no idea. And with that, Scarlett heads over to the man who started talking to her. The next morning, Scarlett wakes up, naked, and in Justin’s bedroom. He comes in to retrieve some clothes, and tells Scarlett that he’ll make her a coffee after he showers and tells her that there’s no one else around.
