Extended Summary

Zac is reeling after the near-kiss with Bianca when Leah shows up. He’s surprised, and Leah’s apologetic for missing their anniversary dinner. She and Zac head home together – Zac staying silent about he and Bianca. The next morning Bianca admits she nearly kissed someone last night. Heath blows up, wanting to know who Bianca nearly kissed. A huge argument erupts, and Heath tries to control himself… as long as it’s not that snake, MacGuire. Bianca’s silence confirms it for Heath. He wants to kill him, but Bianca stops him. This is her fault – she’d had a few drinks, it could’ve been anyone. It’s a symptom of a bigger issue. Meanwhile, Zac’s guilt makes him lash out at Leah. She’s been on at him for months about ‘putting their marriage second’, and then she didn’t show up last night. Leah’s confused – where did that come from? Zac storms out, running into Heath and Bianca. It looks like Heath might punch him, but he controls themselves and stalks into the surf club. Bianca’s surprised, but slightly hopeful about her and Heath. She apologises to Zac for last night, and counsels him not to ignore his problems with Leah.

The Summer Bay House and caravan park residents have been kept awake by the doof-doof music from the schoolies tent. Billie’s sciatica is still troubling her, and Hunter’s grumpy about Olivia. Leah’s super excited to be a grandma, making Billie, Ash and VJ uncomfortable – knowing the truth that VJ’s not the father. Ash tries to get the schoolies party to turn the music down when he finds Hunter drinking. He reckons it’s a bad idea for Hunter to drink in this headspace. He should take it easy. Later, at the diner, Ash and Alf are complaining about the schoolies tent when Leah mentions the baby again. Billie can see Ash flinching every time the baby is mentioned and she tells him to get it together. Meanwhile, a guilty Leah sets up a romantic dinner to apologise to Zac. She knows she’s distracted with the baby and everything – but she’s sorry. Zac tries to tell her about Bianca, but chickens out, not wanting to ruin the moment.

Matt and Evelyn have an awkward run in. Matt hasn’t seen her for a while. She says she’s been working on a fundraiser event for the YCYC and manning the schoolies tent. She leaves quickly and Matt’s left disappointed. Marilyn and Roo are worried he’s going to lose her if he doesn’t get his act together. Roo makes Marilyn promise to keep an eye on them while she’s on holidays in Hawaii. Marilyn and John help out with the YCYC schoolies tent at the caravan park. Marilyn keeping an eye on John’s health. She encourages Evelyn to ask Matt to help – they’re great together. Evelyn’s adamant – they’re just friends! Matt shows up to help, but Evelyn’s distracted and cold. Matt calls her out for avoiding him. Off the back of her dismissive attitude, he stalks off. Evelyn feels bad and finds Matt – she’s scared. He’s her best friend and if it doesn’t work she’ll be devastated. Matt admits that he’s scared too… but before they can go any deeper the schoolies tent catches fire! Once it’s out Matt and Evelyn regroup – about to discuss their feelings when they’re interrupted by a drunk Hunter, lamenting his loss of Olivia. But he says they’re made for each other… the nice moment ruined by him passing out. They can’t catch a break! Matt and Evelyn get Hunter to bed, and finally kiss – while a drunk Hunter is sick. It’s not the most romantic moment, but they don’t care – the time’s now and they’re going to do this.

Heath and Bianca go to the beach and think about the good times they had together here. She took it for granted and if she could go back she’d appreciate those moments more. A thawing between them. When music plays from the party, Heath makes a romantic gesture – dance with him. Like they did on their wedding day. She does and the pair kiss, reminiscing about their lives together. Things will be good again. Happy Heath and Bianca are in a good place the next morning… until they get a knock at the door. The police are there. They’ve found the remains of Gunno, and Heath was the last person to see him alive…
