Extended Summary
Under the cover of darkness, Ash arrives to Kat who is eager to sort out Simmo blackmailing her and Ash by going to McCarthy and dealing with the fall-out legitimately. Ash however claims he has the answer, confident he can handle Simmo alone. The next morning a worried Billie finds Kat in the diner who covers for Ash to his sister, but Billie is left suspicious. At the garage, Simmo says he’ll begin rolling in the cars to strip from this afternoon before leaving as Billie arrives. She gets wise and unravels the entire situation quickly before giving Ash a piece of her mind – regardless of Kat’s outcome, he needs to speak to McCarthy… he can’t lose his freedom again. A determined Ash walks into the police station, requesting McCarthy, while avoiding eye contact with Kat, who watches on in disbelief. Ash tells McCarthy, he wants to help nail Simmo. So, upon delivery of the first car at the Garage, Simmo is pounced upon by Kat and McCarthy. While Billie reassures Ash he’s done the right thing, McCarthy and Kat interrogate Simmo but he turns the story back on Ash – after all, he’s the owner – before telling McCarthy he’s got evidence on his laptop that Kat and Ash are still together. With an allegation of Police corruption made, it’s McCarthy’s duty to investigate Simmo’s claim… no matter how unbelievable it is. Kat puts in the call to Ash and he’s immediately out of the Garage, careening for Simmo’s house, where he lets himself in, heart beating.
Zac storms downstairs, dodging Leah’s questions of cheating – who is that woman and what was he doing with her? Zac confesses, he’s writing a book and Sam is his editor. Their meetings have been to get the book over the line with the publisher who’s on the fence. But when Leah asks for the manuscript, Zac still withholds. The next morning Marilyn and John apologise for how they handled their suspicions as Leah offers up Zac’s excuse… Regardless, Zac should’ve been honest from the beginning. Zac arrives home from his exercises as Marilyn and John quickly congratulate him on his book and again apologise for their attempted intervention but Zac is just glad it’s all out in the open. After Marilyn and John leave, Zac explains to Leah he’s arranged for lunch at the Diner for them and Sam. Sam confirms Zac’s story, teasing him for being too nervous to show even his wife but reassures them both that for a first-time writer, Zac has what it takes to succeed and this is some welcome news to Leah. But Leah doesn’t appreciate Sam’s flirty nature or the fact Zac has been divulging their personal details and marital woes.

When Olivia catches up with Hunter on the Diner balcony, he’s pretty clueless about the whole situation, VJ oddly knowing a whole lot more. Olivia decides to stop the study-separation and the couple agree to meet up later. Olivia leaves and Hunter is forever grateful of VJ who explains the couple really needed to sort their relationship out – they don’t need the added tension while they focus on their HSC.
