Extended Summary
At the engagement party all are present except the guests of honour. Still at the house, Billie is trying to brush the note off, but VJ is certain it means something and if she won’t open up, their marriage will mean nothing to him. In the morning Leah seeks answers as to where they were last night and VJ offers that they’re having problems, just as Billie comes around the corner. Leah leaves them to it. VJ wants openness, but Billie wants trust. If that’s not going to happen they may as well call it quits. She removes the wedding ring, leaves it on the table and walks out, with VJ calling after her. Billie seeks advice from Ash. As they hash it out at the garage, contrary to his advice yesterday, he does think they’re rushing it. But whatever she decides, he’ll be there for her. When Billie runs into VJ at home, he tries to make up but Billie confesses, if she was truly honest with him, he wouldn’t love her any more. But VJ counters that; if she loves him, that’s all that matters. They’ll put the wedding on hold and he’ll give her space, but he can’t lose her.
Another secret rendezvous at the hotel between Kat and Ash – they’re getting pretty good at this! But as they fall back onto the bed, an envelope slides under the door, addressed to Ash, which Kat finds in the morning, leaving for him to open as she heads off for work. Inside are the photos of them kissing, evidence they’re still together, but no note and no further clues. Regardless, Kat will not be happy about this. Later, Ash receives a text from an unknown number with another picture of he and Kat, and a note to meet at the Surf Club, alone. As Ash paces nervously, unsure who to expect, Kat sees him. But before she can say hi, Simmo appears and Ash is quick to go after him, Simmo fleeing as Kat gives chase too. But rounding the corner, Simmo has disappeared. Kat suspects Ash is up to something dodgy with Simmo again but he assures her he’s not. Nevertheless she’s going to have to call the incident in. At the garage, Ash receives a text from Kat, she couldn’t find Simmo, but lo and behold he’s right there, this time with a thug for back up. Ash rushes him again but Simmo threatens to send the photos far and wide – the news and Kat’s superiors – unless Ash starts stripping cars for him – so is Ash in or out?
At the hospital, Tori catches Nate fighting through his shoulder pain. On offering to take a look at it, he winces but it’s not looking good for his Care Flight fitness test, but he appreciates the attention. As they assess the x-ray, the bad news is his shoulder is going to need physio. The good news is the bad news is wrapped in cute banter between he and Tori that results in the pair going for lunch. Over the menu at Salt, Nate and Tori enjoy a light debrief on their shifts within earshot of Marilyn who, moments later, in quiet to Nate, says she couldn’t be happier to see them getting along. But Nate is quick to reply, it’s not a date. Further into their meal, Tori and Nate are sharing sick and humorous war stories from the emergency room, before Nate offers a more genuine moment. But Duncan arrives, and three’s a crowd. Pretty quickly he’s entertaining Tori with his own horrible work stories before planting a kiss on her and heading for the bar. It catches Nate by surprise and Tori clocks it as she realises she hadn’t told him that she and Duncan were back together, and this whole afternoon has meant something very different to Nate. She apologises as Nate does his best to cover his disappointment.
