Extended Summary
Having announced that he’s leaving Summer Bay, Chris struggles to deal with the reality of actually going. Unbeknownst to him, everyone is putting together a party to farewell him, but when Alf thoughtlessly remarks that saying goodbye to those you care about is hard, Chris gets the idea to leave town without anyone knowing. Alf, aware that Irene is throwing him a party, tries to convince Chris to face everyone and say a proper goodbye, urging him to be strong. At the party, Alf is relieved to see Chris show up. Chris is touched by how much trouble everyone has gone to give him the perfect send off. Chris and Irene share an emotional goodbye. But before he can leave Chris stops by Hannah’s grave to thank her for teaching him about love, and with that, Chris leaves Summer Bay for good.
The morning after a casual evening of ‘fun’ Evelyn is ready to head off. Mason has made breakfast for the two, but is happy to put it aside to spend time with her. Evelyn reveals she’s meeting Matt. It’s awkward as she checks if Mason’s still cool being casual. He covers, but the moment that she leaves, it’s clear he’s anything but. Matt later tries to spell it out to Mason, if he’s holding out for more, it’s not going to happen. Mason doesn’t want to hear any of it. At Chris’s farewell party Evelyn attempts to put the moves on Mason inviting him into a bedroom to fool around, but Mason knocks her back. He shows up at the farmhouse later to apologise, admitting that he wants them to be something more. Evelyn doesn’t, she’s not ready. She doesn’t think she’s going to feel that way about anyone ever again… Mason realises he’s been in this situation before, and calls it quits, he can’t be around her anymore.
Wanting to create the perfect farewell gift for Chris, Olivia enlists Hunter’s help. As they work on a personalised cookbook, Hunter and Olivia grow closer, ultimately giving Hunter the guts to ask Olivia out. Olivia is thrilled that they’re getting their romance back on track, unaware that’s she’s just received a message from an unknown person, claiming to be a victim of her abuser Kirk Sheppard… But who is this mystery message from?
