Extended Summary
Still reeling from the news, Josh and Evelyn are unsure if the police will even accept Andy’s confession. Kat is thrown by the development. She gets a moment alone with Andy and tries to persuade him not to sacrifice himself for Josh. Andy is formally interviewed. He ‘confesses’ to killing Charlotte because she was blackmailing him and threatening his family. Kat now realises Josh had motive to go and see Charlotte that night. Andy stuns the police further by admitting he also killed Jake Pirovic.
Riddled with guilt, Josh wants to come clean but Evelyn persuades him to rest up before they do anything. Kat confronts Josh, accusing him of using her. Josh argues that killing Charlotte was still an accident. Kat no longer believes a word he says and threatens to reveal all if Josh refuses. Kat admits to Ash, however, she was only bluffing. Ash tries to justify his betrayal of Kat’s confidence but she does not want to hear it. She makes it clear she does not want to see him any time soon.
Josh makes up his mind to come clean but Evelyn no longer agrees – Andy deliberately admitted to killing Jake so he will go to prison whatever Josh decides. She can’t see the sense in them both ending up in gaol. After losing so many people this is her one chance not to lose him too. Josh eventually agrees not to say anything.
Dom makes a romantic breakfast to cheer Phoebe up – she was a bit down after Ricky’s departure. Phoebe is grateful but Dom grows evasive when she mentions Tess, his ex. Phoebe confides her concerns to Tori, her new friend, who is reassuring. Phoebe is troubled to learn from Tess that she has already made it clear to Dom she wants him back… and is still waiting for a response from him. Dom apologises for not being honest with Phoebe, admitting part of him will always love Tess. He remains adamant, however, it is Phoebe he wants to be with.
The Morgan family banter over breakfast. Tori suggests Justin and Brody try to find work. Brody expresses unhappiness at giving up a good job where they were before. Mason has already arranged to continue his medical studies at N.D.U. Justin heads to the local garage for work, annoyed to realise Ash co-owns the place. Justin walks right back out. Brody and Mason sample the local Diner. Brody’s food snobbery comes out and he inadvertently insults Leah, who orders them to leave. Mason finds her later to apologise. Leah has calmed down and is curious to learn about his family. Mason covers awkwardly. Tori is dismayed to learn the boys’ aren’t settling in and cryptically points out they are meant to be making this one work.
Mulling it all over, Phoebe briefly meets Justin, who is struggling to train his dog, Buddy. He cheekily asks her out but she declines. Phoebe sees Dom and Tess with Bella at the playground. It’s a touching family tableau, causing Phoebe to make up her mind – they need to think of Bella in all of this too. She speaks to Dom later, he protests but the fact a big part of him is still in love with Tess is too much of a hurdle for them. As painful as it is, they agree to split. Reeling from the break-up, Phoebe gets drunk and impetuously goes back to the Morgans with Justin – only one thing on their minds.
