Extended Summary

Nate wakes up with a crushing hangover as Ricky arrives home with Casey, having stayed the night at Cheryl’s. There’s an opportunity to have a counselling session, but they mutually decide to postpone… The sinking feeling for both Ricky and Nate – the writing is on the wall for their marriage.

Kat, meanwhile, is a bundle of anxiety, given Sergeant McCarthy’s announcement he’s re-opening the Charlotte King murder case. Ash wonders why she’s so worked up, and Kat reluctantly decides to confide in him… Ash is shocked to discover that Josh killed Charlotte. Kat, meanwhile, is convinced the only course of action is to tell Josh that today has to be his last day of freedom. Either he turns himself in, or Kat will arrest him.

Evelyn is stressed about how distant Josh has seemed of late. She’s worried that, in her state of grief, she’s been leaning on him too heavily. Zac and Leah reassure her that Josh is a good guy, and there’s no way he’d dessert her in her time of need. Leah suggests Evelyn make it clear to Josh just how much she loves and appreciates him.

Nate admits to Tori that he knows his relationship with Ricky is over. Ricky, separately, can’t help but look wistfully at the 1st birthday card that Brax sent to Casey.

Further pressure from work makes Kat convinced that today has to be the day Josh gives himself up. Ash argues the point – given no one except Kat has managed to crack the case yet, is there really some a crushing time pressure? He reminds Kat how bad the timing is, given Evelyn’s grief. Does she really need to lose her boyfriend, on top of everything else? Kat’s well aware how fraught the situation is, but she’s already given Josh more than enough leeway. Now it’s time for her to do her job – otherwise her career could be over.

Ash heads off, intending to track down Josh before Kat can find him. Andy’s got no idea where his little brother is, but can tell from Ash’s sense of urgency something’s up. Ash betrays Kat’s confidence by telling Andy that Josh is Charlotte’s killer. Ash wants Andy to help find Josh, so they can help him to go to ground – until Ash manages to convince Kat to keep quiet.

Josh, meanwhile, has fronted up to Evelyn, ready to tell her his dark secret. Evelyn, however, has planned a romantic surprise for the two of them, her way of showing Josh just how much he means to her. Josh can’t bring himself to reveal the truth…

Ricky and Nate finally have the talk they’ve been putting off. They both acknowledge how much they love each other, and how badly they wanted their relationship to work, but they both know their marriage is over.

Tori later comforts a grieving Nate, who admits that Ricky never loved him as much as she loved Brax. Nate doesn’t think Ricky will go back to Brax, Ricky’s way too stubborn for that. But as he says it, we get the sense a plan is formulating…

Evelyn tells Josh she wants to start thinking about their future together… She loves him so much, and as bad as things have been for her, following the loss of Hannah and Oscar, she knows she’ll make it through with Josh by her side. Josh can’t take the guilt anymore, and finally confesses to Evelyn… He killed Charlotte King…

Ash, meanwhile, reveals to Kat that he’s told Andy about Josh’s guilt. Hopefully by now Josh has already gone on the run – which’ll put paid to Kat’s plans to arrest him. Kat is staggered by Ash’s betrayal…

Ricky is taken by complete surprise as Brax turns up, having been invited by Nate. Brax reveals he’s now a free man… He didn’t get in touch with Ricky, as he didn’t want to interfere in what he thought was her happy marriage… But now that Ricky’s a free woman, Brax is here to ask her if she and Casey will spend their life with him? What will Ricky’s decision be?
