Extended Summary
Post-coital, Hunter and Olivia are back in the love bubble and looking forward to a day of pizza in bed, until a call from John interrupts them – Skye has run off.
Ricky sorts through mail and stumbles upon a birthday card for Casey. The realisation it’s from Brax hits her. She hides the card as Nate enters, attempting to recompose herself. Nate tries to woo her along to the ‘Welcome feast’ for his new boss, but she can’t attend. A call for Ricky about the Diner takes her away, leaving Nate to mind Casey – and quickly stumble upon the hidden birthday card.
Kat and Ash stroll the beach enjoying being openly affectionate. Josh interrupts their kissing, and the conversation turns to how tough things are for Evelyn still. Kat and Josh have an aside – she can’t keep covering for him. He needs to find out exactly how Evelyn is and get back to her – today! When Evelyn arrives, even Kat can tell she’s not coping.
John and Greg are both trying everything they can to find Tank and Skye. Greg knows Tank has to check in to a parole officer at some point, hopefully they find him before then. Hunter and Olivia aren’t having any luck finding Skye either. Olivia beats herself up for not realising that Skye was saying goodbye to her yesterday.
We find Skye and Tank taking the highway out of town. Skye listens to messages from Olivia begging her to call back so they can talk. Tank checks on Skye – is she sure about this? Skye knows she doesn’t want to be anywhere other than with Tank. They share a kiss and make good their escape.
Ricky returns home to a frustrated Nate who confronts her on hiding the letter. Ricky is open to communicating about it, but Nate is irate. Yet again, Ricky is hiding evidence of Brax – why would she keep doing this? She doesn’t have an answer for him. Ricky maintains that Brax isn’t the problem here – they are. But Nate doesn’t buy it; nothing has been the same since Brax returned.
Chris checks on Olivia at work – she’s not as worried about whether Tank is a bad guy or not, but about Skye’s state of mind. Chris tracks down Hunter, telling him he’s concerned for Olivia – she’s freaking out about Skye, and he’s worried she could undo all of her progress lately.
Evelyn notices Josh is acting off, but he turns it around – he’s just anxious about how she’s coping. Evelyn is adamant; thanks to Josh she’s okay. If it wasn’t for him she doesn’t know what she’d do. Josh relays Evelyn’s dependence to Kat – she’s stressed, she can’t sit on this indefinitely. She agrees to give him more time.
Ricky opens up to Ash about all of her and Nate’s dramas. It drives her nuts; she married Nate – what more does she need to do to prove herself? Ash gets her to admit that maybe she needs to keep clarifying the situation by putting a little bit more effort in. Any guy would have a tough time with the situation. Ricky agrees, she better frock up and meet Nate at this work function tonight.
Tori finds a down looking Nate at the feast. She figures out the source of his mood is Ricky immediately. As Nate’s boss she commands him to cut loose and have fun tonight. Nate is keen, but runs straight into Ricky as she enters. An anxious Nate is determined to take Tori’s advice to heart, even with Ricky here. He swigs an extra couple of drinks. Is he headed for trouble? The night escalates, Karaoke is on the cards, but Ricky opts out – feeling like the fifth wheel. She wants Nate to have fun still and heads off. It’s amicable, but the couple clearly have underlying tensions surfacing.
Hunter surprises Olivia with a DVD and more snacks than she can handle. She’s touched by the gesture but sees straight through it. Hunter doesn’t have to worry about her cutting again, sometimes when she’s upset, she’s just upset. The two agree to grab some pizza instead.
Chris comes in to check on John – who’s clearly very down. He’s there for his mate as the two share dinner.
Back at the work function Tori gets a bit evasive when asked about her previous work experience, escaping to the bar where she calms down a very drunk Nate. Time to go home. Tori walks him back. Ricky’s not there tonight, she’s at her ex’s mum’s place. Tori guides Nate inside, encouraging him to drink water. In his stupor Nate confesses that he knows Ricky will never love him like he loves her. Feeling sorry for him, Tori covers him with a blanket and slips out.
Sergeant McCarthy arrives on Kat’s doorstep to let her know that the Charlotte King murder case is being reopened – justice must be served. Meanwhile, Josh sits with Evelyn, feeling the wait of the world on his shoulders.
