Extended Summary
Ricky has just suggested to Nate that they get married straight away. Nate is unsure, is this what she really wants? Or is it to prove a point? Ricky just wants Nate to know she wants to marry him. Nate isn’t questioning if she loves him. Ricky agrees it’s a stupid idea but Nate can see she’s upset when she runs off to their room. The next morning, Kyle runs into Nate coming out of the surf and asks how things are settling down after last week. Nate assures him things are fine. Kyle then asks a favour – can Nate go check on the Palmer House? John asked Kyle but he’s got to get to work. Nate agrees to swing by the house, but then gets an idea. Later he brings Ricky around to the Palmer House with Casey but Ricky’s unsure what they’re doing here. Then Nate wonders if she wants to move in – what? Nate’s already run it past John and he said they can live here while he & Marilyn and still away. Ricky’s surprised at his turnaround but Nate says he understood her gesture last night and wants to meet her halfway. Ricky agrees. Later, she’s showing Kyle the new digs and Kyle questions whether maybe moving in together is too soon. Risky gets annoyed, pointing out that her & Nate have dealt with Brax turning up and they want to move on with their lives. Maybe Kyle should as well. Kyle later helps Nate put the cot back together in the Palmer house. Kyle sees how Nate’s feeling moving in with Ricky but he’s certain it’s right. Kyle tries to give a brotherly warning about treating Ricky well but Nate assures him that’s Ricky’s the one and he’ll always do right by her and Casey. Kyle’s happy with that.
Evie and Oscar head off to their first day of uni, but Oscar is trying a new look – he’s dressed like a hipster! When they get on campus they run into Matt, Maddy & Josh and Matt is quick to tease Oscar about his outfit. Josh and Evie say a tentative hi to each other, then Evie spots Hannah “what are you doing here?!” Hannah says she’s going to be a student here – she got into the paramedics course! Evie’s ecstatic for her. Josh and Evie organise to meet up later by the diner stand. Hannah looks over, and there is Chris, spruiking for the diner. Chris complains to Irene that she didn’t warn him that Hannah would be here but Irene’s sick of hearing it. He’s meant to be getting over Hannah! Meanwhile, as Josh and Evie walk around the uni campus, Evie explains to Josh what’s been happening with her. He apologises for his bad timing the other day but Evie dismisses it. They both agree it’s nice to be hanging out together again and there’s a thawing between them. Meanwhile, Oscar tries to make some new hipster-looking friends but it doesn’t go very well. Later on, Hannah runs into Chris is passing and they say hi but it’s awkward. Chris says she’ll be great at the paramedics course then quickly heads off. Evie, who’s witnessed the exchange, comes over to sympathise with Hannah. Hannah makes an off hand comment that it’s what happens when you love someone who hates you. Evie’s taken aback – you love him? Hannah admits she does. Evie tells her she has to go get him then. Hannah thinks it’s impossible; he still hates her. But Evie uses her and Josh as a comparison. There is a way to push past through all that hate. Otherwise you risk losing him forever. Hannah bucks up the courage to go to the diner stall and talk to Chris. He tries to run away again but she stops him, forcing him to let her talk. She apologises again for the way she treated him and he doesn’t blame him for dumping her. It shouldn’t have taken her this long to figure out who she wants to be with but it has. And she wants to be with Chris. Will he let her prove it to him? Chris simply says it’s too late and leaves Hannah crestfallen.
Maddy and Matt are on tenterhooks after their recent bickering. Their nosy at the diner and even Roo & Alf can hear over at their table. Roo explains the situation to Alf and said she’s promised to keep her mouth shut. At the O Week opening day they continue snapping at each other. Then at the diner later with Roo, they’re going at it again when Roo snaps – stop fighting! But that only gets them going more. Roo goes to complain to Irene who’s distracted. Roo asks what’s up and Irene says it’s an app Chris installed on her phone to get her notifications on her search for her child. Roo enquires how it’s going but Irene wants to be realistic – it’s slim chance she’ll actually find her child. They’re interrupted but Nate who’s returning his keys to Irene. They have a touching goodbye just as at the same time Ricky and Casey are saying goodbye to their home, and the life Ricky had there with Brax. Ricky arrives at the Palmer House and Nate jokingly checks if she’s having second thoughts? But they both smile and each say they’re sure – this couple really is back on the same page.
Later on, Hannah and Matt decide to give the inflatable jousting a try. Chris is watching as they have a bit of fun and Evie clocks the way he looks at Hannah. It’s clear he’s still besotted. But Hannah only notices him walking away after she defeats Matt. After the match, Josh finds Evie and ask her if she’s going to the O Week party tonight? And would she want to go? She thinks it’s as a group, but Josh corrects her – not just with him. They share a smile and Evie says she’d love to. Did they just agree to go on a date? Evie finds Hannah and tells her what she saw earlier; Chris still loves her. Hannah thinks she’s making it up but Evie pleads for her not to give up on Chris. But at home, Evie’s mind is running in circles wondering if she’s going on a date with Josh but as she’s talking to Oscar, he’s distracted. Evie asks what’s wrong? is it the BRCA test? But Oscar says it isn’t he just had a weird day. Later as Evie’s getting ready, Maddy arrives trying to escape Matt. He’s being so uptight! But as she complains to Evie, she pulls herself up – they are still getting used to living together.
Chris is putting out the rubbish from the Diner stall in the bins at the Uni. Hannah sees him from afar and calls out to him, determined not to let him go. But he doesn’t hear her. In her haste to catch him, Hannah runs… but she trips and falls. She’s hit her head. She lies motionless on the ground, hidden by the bins…
