Extended Summary

Leah and Zac are encouraging Oscar to think positive about Evie’s impending diagnosis. They all head to the hospital to find out the results. Hannah is also there to support her. The doctor tells Evie it’s benign – she doesn’t have cancer. It takes Evie a second to process, but she’s more shocked. Once they all head home, Evie breaks down crying, saying all this has reminded her of how her mum died. Will she always feel anxious about cancer being a possibility in her life? Hannah suggests that maybe it’s time her, Oscar and Evie all consider getting tested for the BRCA gene. Oscar doesn’t immediately realise he could have it too, but once Hannah explains it can increase the risk of cancer in men as well, Oscar starts googling information. Hannah and Evie are open to the possibility of testing but Oscar can’t stand the thought of knowing your fate. Oscar goes for a walk and runs into Maddy at the beach. He updates her on what’s been happening and tells her about the girls wanting the BRCA test. With Maddy’s experience, she shares that she would’ve preferred to know in advance about her cancer. Oscar’s surprised but Maddy is sure she would’ve been better prepared and wasted less time on things that didn’t matter. Oscar heads back home, thoughtful, and tells Hannah and Evie he’s decided he wants to get tested. They’ll all get tested together – Hannah makes an appointment for the hospital. After seeing a genetic counsellor, the three head to the hospital to see Nate and have their blood tests done. They’ll have to wait a few weeks for the results though.

Roo is biting her tongue when it comes to mess around the flat, trying to treat Maddy and Matt as equals. But the place is a pig sty. Maddy can tell from her look, so has a word to Matt. Matt doesn’t see the point of wasting time on cleaning but with a little promise of a beer filled fridge, Maddy has him tidying up in no time. But in Matt’s haste to help, he washes some of Maddy’s clothes without checking the labels and shrinks on of her favourite sweaters! Roo comes home thankful for a clean house only to run into Maddy and Matt in a full blown fight.

Ricky and Nate are back on track, excited about their relationship. Ricky organises Casey to be with a babysitter so her and Nate can have a day to themselves. But when Nate finds the car Brax left for Casey, he’s reminded how tumultuous Ricky’s past is. He gets called into work but before he goes there’s tension over the car. Ricky tries to move past it, but can they both forget Brax and move on? Later, Ricky laments to Leah about Nate finding the car. Leah, not knowing the full story of Brax’s return, suggests that maybe it’s something else. Nate’s not usually an insecure guy. Leah suggests Ricky does something to show Nate he’s important to her. Ricky gets an idea – she heads home and sets up a romantic dinner with wine for them. Meanwhile, Nate runs into Alf on his way back from work and Alf enquires about the wedding plans. Nate admits they aren’t going anywhere. Without saying too much, Nate confides that he’s worried Brax will never truly fade away, that Ricky will always love him. Alf gives some advice – his second wife thought he could never love her like Alf loved his first wife. And she was right. It was a different love; no better or worse. But if Ricky says she wants to be with Nate, he should believe her. Ricky’s usually one to speak her mind! Nate’s thoughtful. But when he arrives home to Ricky’s candlelit dinner, she springs a surprise on him – she made a few calls today and found a celebrant that will marry them this week! Is this too rushed and what will Nate say?
