Leah, Zac & Oscar comfort Evie. Skye moves into the Beach House and Olivia is not happy about it. Roo agrees to treat Matt & Maddy as equals in their new home. Hannah thinks she may have lost Chris forever.

Extended Summary

Roo prompts a household meeting after dinner to set a few ground rules – Matt assures her he’s already caught onto the “shut bathroom door means occupied” rule. Maddy giggles at the faux pas. Roo thinks they need to lay out their expectations on the table but Matt believes it’s more about HER expectations. Roo assures him that she wants their opinions as well. In that case, Matt mentions all the girly things in the apartment that aren’t for him and the fact that his one piece of art was taken down. He also doesn’t want to be spending $10 on fancy bread! Matt has a point and Roo realises her talk has just backfired.

Oscar checks in with how Skye went telling John about Jett. Skye tells him John was fine with it – but now Marilyn’s had an accident and John has to rush to Italy. Oscar can see Skye’s anxious but tells her just to wait and see what John has in mind. He wouldn’t leave Skye to fend for herself.

Leah and Zac are trying to comfort Evie, telling her not to jump to conclusions over the lump she found in her breast. They promise to take her to the hospital first thing in the morning to get it checked out. The next day, Leah arrives with Evie to meet with Hannah, who’s been informed of the situation. Hannah takes her niece under her arm and assures her that whatever it is they can handle it. Hannah then leads her off for an examination. Hannah confirms that there is a lump but they need to do more tests – it may just be a cyst. Evie is getting ahead of herself again but Hannah calms her then heads off to get the doctor. In the hallway, Hannah’s concern for her niece is evident. Later, Leah and Evie arrive home to tell Zac that it’s not a cyst so Evie had a biopsy. They’ll get the results of that tomorrow. Zac asks if Evie has told Oscar? Evie is firm, saying she doesn’t want to tell him. Leah and Zac think he’d want to be there for her but Evie is adamant – She doesn’t want to remind him of what they went through when their mum was sick. Meanwhile, Hannah runs into Oscar at the beach looking downcast and immediately tells him they need to be strong for Evie. Oscar wonders what she’s talking about and Hannah realises she’s put her foot in it. She thought he knew… Oscar rushes to the summer bay house – why didn’t Evie tell him what’s going on?! Evie admits she didn’t want to stress him out. Oscar jokes that it’s her job to drive him crazy, but then he tells her he’s here for whatever she needs.

John has called on Irene for a desperate plea before his flight leaves this afternoon. He apologises for the last minute ask, but can Skye stay with her while John is away? Irene is hesitant; her house is pretty full already. But john begs, saying Skye’s been through so much with her mum and her wants her to be safe while he’s gone. Later, Irene welcomes Skye into her house, telling Hunter & Olivia who are there that Skye is staying for a while. Hunter seems fine with it but Olivia clearly has her nose out of joint.

Matt and Maddy discuss last night. Matt thinks it’s feeling more like he’s living with his mum than with a flatmate. He tells Maddy if Roo keeps acting like she’s the boss, he’s not sure if this living arrangement will last. Later Maddy addresses this with Roo, echoing the sentiments Matt shared. She thinks Roo still sees herself as the parent and Maddy & Matt as the kids. If this is really going to work, Roo needs to treat them as equals. Later that day Roo enters with cleaning gear and chucks it at Matt & Maddy – if we’re going to be equals, you will need to use these every now and then. Roo concedes that she’ll treat them as equals, but that means they have to fend for themselves. Matt asks if this means he can hang up his skateboard? Reluctantly, Roo agrees. Finally, a win for Matt!

Hunter is still avoiding Leah and the MacGuires after the fallout from him admitting he lit the fire. He and Olivia are picking up coffees in a rush from the diner but they run into VJ on the way out. Olivia tries to chat but VJ isn’t having a bar of it. He reiterates that nothing Hunter says will change what he’s done. Hunter, deflated, exits with Olivia.

Irene is stepping on eggshells around Chris but to her surprise, Chris apologises for being grumpy lately. He says the old Chris is back! He then produces his new Smouldr profile for Irene to see, saying he’s back on the market. Irene’s unsure it’s a good idea but Chris thinks it’s a great one. He’ll find a keeper in no time. Chris arrives at the diner to meet up with his first Smouldr date – Destiny! Yes, that’s her name. The initial meeting is smooth, as Chris throws in a few jokes. It seems to be going well as coffee turns into lunch, but then Destiny asks how Chris got into being a Lifesaver. Chris mentions it was his ex, Hannah, and that’s all he needs to go off on a tirade about how she treated him. Destiny sits, awkwardly listening. After quite a while, Chris realises what he’s done. He tries to turn it around. Destiny is nice about it, but she says it’s clear Chris isn’t over his ex. Destiny wishes him all the best then leaves. As Chris hangs his head in his hands, Hannah enters and tries to talk to him. Chris is sick of it – even when she’s not here she’s still stuffing things up for him! He just wants her to stay out of his life. Hannah sighs as Chris storms off once again.
