Extended Summary

Andy and Hannah are awkward after spontaneously hooking up and she makes a fast exit, both of them feeling a mix of emotions. Hannah debriefs with Nate on the beach, just as Andy does the same with Kyle at the house. Both feel like there was no spark left; them sleeping together was almost like a goodbye. Yet neither are sure how the other feels about it. Hannah laments to Nate that she’s worried that this is what held her back from really falling in love with Chris. And now she knows there’s nothing between her and Andy. Could Chris be the real true love of her life? She stuffed it up for nothing. Later in the afternoon, Hannah is out for a walk when she runs into Andy. They’re unsure at first, but it’s soon clear both are on the same page – whatever it is they had it’s gone now. They still care for each other and decide to be friends.

Roo and Maddy begin moving things into their new flat, both with a good feeling about their new living arrangements. Matt says his goodbyes to Leah, Zac and VJ and Leah checks that he’s sure with this living arrangement, but Matt’s positive. As Matt arrives to the flat, he presents a skateboard as a piece of art to hang on the wall. Roo and Maddy hide their displeasure. Roo asks for them all to contribute money to the first grocery shop, but Matt’s skint. He’ll survive on noodles! Roo wonders whether this was a good idea after all. Later, Matt & Maddy are getting frisky on the couch when Roo comes back from her shop – whoops! Matt jumps off Maddy and puts his shirt back on but Roo isn’t fazed – they were just kissing. Matt seems to be the only awkward one. That evening, Matt comes back with ingredients for dinner and notices his skateboard missing from where he displayed it. Annoyed, Matt heads to the bathroom but when he opens the door, he sees Roo naked! She runs out in a towel, furious, they retreats slamming the door. Whoops again.

Josh arrives home and offers to cook some lunch for Andy – this is a turnaround. Seems he & Andy are finally on good terms again. Andy tentatively asks if Josh has spoken to Evie then? Josh still hasn’t, but he’s been thinking about it. Andy pushes that maybe it’s time to let her off the hook.

Evie & Oscar are having a swim at the beach, both trying to forget their woes. Evie wishes she could get out of her funk about Josh and Oscar is trying to move on as he watches Matt & Maddy move in together. Thankfully both are supportive of each other. Oscar heads off as Evie wants a bit more time sunbathing. Evie is putting sunscreen on her chest when she stops…something feels strange. Back at home Evie’s on the internet when Josh appears wanting to talk, but Evie’s anxious saying now isn’t a good time. Josh starts apologising for last week and saying he doesn’t want to lose her as a friend. Evie is getting very emotional and storms upstairs, leaving Josh concerned.

Skye’s settling in well with John, as John mentions he hasn’t heard from Jett in a while – has Skye? She hasn’t either. Skye later meets up with Oscar and admits to him that Jett broke up with her. She’s okay, just the long distance thing was getting too much for them. Oscar commiserates. Skye reveals she’s more anxious about whether John will kick her out. Oscar thinks John wouldn’t do that, but maybe Skye should tell him about her & Jett before he finds out himself. But when Skye gets home, John is getting off the phone with Jett. He knows they’ve split up. John’s shocked she didn’t tell him. She tries to apologise, saying she knows she has to move out and she’ll start packing her things. John stops her – she’s not going anywhere. This doesn’t change anything. Skye’s relieved and they hug. That evening as they have dinner and Skye begins excitedly planning for school, John gets a call from an overseas number. It’s a hospital – Marilyn’s been in an accident. John’s flustered, wondering how quickly he can get a flight over there to be with her. Skye’s concerned for Marilyn but also feels a little worried about John leaving. John assures her he’ll find somewhere for her to stay while he’s gone. Skye is left needing a new home again.

In the Diner, Chris is in a terrible mood, still sulking over Hannah. Nate comes in and although it’s a touchy subject, brings up Hannah. Chris doesn’t want to hear it but after what Nate heard earlier this morning he tries to encourage Chris to talk to her. Chris storms off, still unable to swallow his pride. Later that night, Irene gives Chris a talking to. He’s scaring off customers with his attitude! She knows he’s having a hard time getting over Hannah but she reminds him life is too short, and maybe he should spend some time on himself now.

Josh has come to find Leah at the diner to tell her about Evie’s meltdown. Evie wouldn’t tell him what was wrong and Josh is worried it’s something serious. After a few unanswered calls, Leah goes home to find Evie. She’s visibly upset and Leah assures her she’s been through a lot lately; it’s understandable. Evie says it’s not about anything that’s been going on. She went to the beach this morning and she felt something… she can’t help but think the worst. Leah can’t quite follow until Evie says “I’ve found a lump in my breast”.
