Extended Summary

Ash and Kat sit in his van, drinking a beer, trying to get their heads around the possibility of Denny’s death. Ash asks Kat if she knows who did it and guesses she suspects Charlotte, despite her denial.

The next morning Phoebe tells Hannah that she broke up with Ash. Hannah isn’t convinced that it’s over, telling Phoebe that she and Ash are good together. Chris comes over with breakfast for Hannah and gives her a kiss. Phoebe leaves them to it.

Kat wakes up in Ash’s van, he’s slept on the floor. Kat reiterates that Ash has to keep their conversation to himself and as he agrees, he also asks for Kat’s reassurance that she’ll get Charlotte for what she did and Kat nods grimly. She steps out of the van and they hug before Kat leaves. Neither of them notices Phoebe who’s walked up and seen them.
Chris is listing all sorts of crazy ideas for a date, but finally suggests going for a nice dinner which Hannah says is more her style. Chris says he loves her style, then that he loves her. Hannah awkwardly tells him that she loves him too. Phoebe appears and Chris leaves, realising that Phoebe wants to talk to Hannah. Phoebe explains that she just saw Kat coming out of Ash’s van having clearly spent the night there. Hannah persuades Phoebe that Kat and Ash wouldn’t do that to her and Phoebe calms down, but still feels unsettled.

A loved up Olivia and Hunter are walking from the beach when Charlotte approaches, asking to speak to Hunter. Olivia goes to get their juices giving them a bit of space. Charlotte asks for the money that she gave him back. Hunter is stunned, how can she ask for money back that was his anyway?! Hunter tells her that he’s done and walks away.

Andy tries to talk to Josh about him saying they’d be better off if Andy had let Josh die but Josh isn’t open to anything, he lays into Andy telling him what a screw up he is. Unbeknownst to them Charlotte has approached and is standing outside, able to overhear Josh as he raises his voice, listing Andy’s mistakes – including that he killed Jake Pirovic. Charlotte rushes home and looks up reports on Jake Pirovic’s death. There’s a knock at the door and Kat calls out insisting that Charlotte open the door. Kat interviews Charlotte down at the station. Charlotte calmly continues to deny her involvement but Kat locks her up, leaving Charlotte in a cell worried about what they know.

As Hunter and Olivia walk and talk about Charlotte, Olivia decides to open up to Hunter and tells him about her scars, and the experiences which led to her need to cut herself. Hunter is shocked by what she’s been through but totally supportive. Olivia is moved by his passion towards her and they kiss.

Hannah finds Andy who’s looking down, he tells her that Josh said he should have let him die. Chris sees Hannah comforting Andy and is disquieted by their closeness. When Hannah goes into the diner Chris makes her coffee and asks about her and Andy. Hannah reassures Chris but despite seeming convinced, his face falls as she walks away.

Andy and Josh talk, Josh is apologetic about the way he’s been behaving and goes on to tell Andy that he doesn’t know how to deal with everything, especially now he can’t do what he used to do. When he had problems he always fell back on his art but now he’s blind he can’t do that. Now he feels truly lost, and he’s also realised that he can’t go to uni and become an architect. Andy tries to give comfort but there’s very little that he can do.

Emerson receives the call confirming the body is Denny. Despite her lack of surprise Kat is still rocked by the awful news. Outside Phoebe finds Kat in tears and unable to hold it in any longer she tells a stunned Phoebe that Denny’s dead…
