Extended Summary

Kat interviews Olivia for the vandalism of Charlotte’s apartment, but despite Kat making a good case, Olivia doesn’t crack – although Irene doesn’t look entirely convinced. Meanwhile, VJ tries to call Olivia, sure of her innocence when Leah questions it. VJ lays into Charlotte for blaming Olivia when Hunter walks in, and doesn’t hold back when Hunter asks what’s happened. Zac and Leah try to temper VJ’s opinion but he’s on a roll. Hunter goes to find Charlotte and grills her about dragging other people into her mess. They fight, and Hunter ends up storming off, but before Charlotte can go after him she receives a text from Trystan saying he needs to see her ASAP. Charlotte goes to meet Trystan, he wants to know what she’s found out about Brax. Charlotte tells Trystan that she needs a few more days. Trystan isn’t impressed and asks if he has to remind her how serious they are. He walks off, leaving Charlotte worried about what is going to happen.

Kat returns with Olivia’s UK police records and Irene’s stunned to hear that she was charged with vandalism. Olivia sticks to her story, insisting that this case is not the same, and that Charlotte is so widely hated in Summer Bay that anyone could be a suspect. Kat lets Olivia go without charges, but advises her to stay away from Charlotte. When they get home Irene admits she thinks Olivia’s innocent, but wants to know more about Olivia’s past. After Olivia describes her bullying experiences Irene can’t help sympathising, but when she pushes for more Olivia ends the conversation, heading to the bathroom. Once she’s in there her smile fades and she sinks to the floor, breathing hard. Slowly she pulls the hem of her dress up, revealing self-harming scars on her upper thighs.

VJ’s out running when he finds Hunter, still riled up after the confrontation with his mother. VJ starts to ask whether Hunter’s heard from Olivia but is interrupted by Hunter’s phone ringing which he doesn’t answer, saying it’s his mum. VJ apologises for going off about her before, which Hunter accepts, before telling VJ he’d like to be alone. After VJ jogs off he hears Hunter yelling and turns to see two thugs dragging Hunter to a car. VJ shouts at them to stop and we briefly see Trystan sitting in the back seat, but before VJ reaches them the car screeches away.

Zac tries to distract Leah from paperwork while they have the house to themselves, but Leah has seen an old wedding venue quote. They talk wistfully about how things were before the fire and everything else that followed, then Zac suggests they could still get married, just more simply. Before they can discuss it much further VJ bursts in breathless, and tells them what happened to Hunter. Zac calls the police, then wants to go straight out and start looking for Hunter, but Leah points out that he has no idea where to start. Zac is convinced that Charlotte has something to do with it and calls her, but she’s on the phone and ignores his call.

Hunter wakes up in the bush, still groggy from being chloroformed. He staggers up, trying to work out where he is. Eventually Hunter makes his way within sight of a road but before he can reach it he’s overwhelmed by the effects of being drugged and collapses. Kat is out in a patrol car searching for Hunter, and catches a glimpse of him through the trees. She runs to him and calls for an ambulance.

Irene finds Olivia staring into the distance and tries to ask what’s wrong, but Olivia denies there’s anything going on. Despite trying to keep things light, when Irene presses, Olivia snaps, making Irene think there really is a problem. Later on, Olivia apologises and opens up about her life in London. She loves being back in Summer Bay – it reminds her of her mum. Irene is deeply touched and after a moment tells Olivia that she can stay permanently. Olivia is thrilled and hugs Irene tightly.

An exhausted Hunter is returned home and looked after by Leah and Zac. Kat asks whether Hunter can tell her anything about his attackers, but he can’t as he was knocked straight out. Kat talks to Leah and Zac who tell her that Charlotte has been having financial trouble, but that they don’t know why she needed the money so desperately that she raided Hunter’s trust fund.

Alf accosts Charlotte, who didn’t know that Hunter had been taken. Alf asks whether she knows why, but she covers and tries to push past Alf, but he stops her, telling her to get her act together before someone gets seriously hurt. Alf leaves Charlotte feeling humiliated and angry. She immediately calls Trystan and demands that they meet up. That night they sit in Charlotte’s car, and she confronts him about taking Hunter. He’s casual but menacing, showing just how easy it is for him to mess with her life, and leaves the car, threatening to go further if she doesn’t cooperate. Charlotte watches him, filled with desperate rage, scared that Hunter will never be safe. Charlotte slams her foot down on the accelerator, charging towards Trystan. There’s a thump and Charlotte stops the car, gets out and looks down at Trystan’s still body. He won’t be bothering her or Hunter anymore…
