Marilyn’s former actions may ruin her and John’s chances of fostering a baby. Hannah and Chris follow their dreams, encouraged by each other.
Extended Summary
Ash goes surfing before he’s fully recovered from the kidney operation, and has to defend himself when Phoebe and Hannah claim he may be overdoing things.
It’s the day of the paternity results. Phoebe reassures Ash that she loves him and that the results aren’t going to change that. Kyle arrives and they head to the hospital to get the results … all three are in shock when they discover Kyle is the father!
Marilyn and John are preparing for their DOCS meeting. Marilyn is worried, so suggests they practice. Roo and Leah tell them to just talk about how well they work together as a team, and reminisce about Jett. Leah gets roped into posing as the DOCS interviewer to help them.
Later, during the actual interview, things are going well, until Mary, the interviewer, takes a call. She is told that Marilyn abducted a baby and, despite Marilyn’s protestations that it was years ago, it could ruin their chances.
Hannah and Chris go on a date, where Hannah encourages Chris to give being a lifeguard another go. Afterwards, Chris asks John if there are any positions available, and he tells him that there is one coming up, which Chris can go for if he gets his bronze medallion. Later, Hannah tests Chris on his lifesaver knowledge
Phoebe, Ash and Kyle enter, whilst Hannah and Chris are kissing. Chris asks who the baby daddy is and Phoebe tells him it’s Kyle, getting a jokey reaction from Chris. Hannah hustles him out of the door, leaving the subdued trio to discuss the situation. However, mid-way through the conversation, Ash suddenly gets up and leaves.
Hannah and Chris soon find him on the beach exercising a little too hard. Hannah tries to advise him to take things slowly and she and Chris go to get gelato. When they come back, they find Ash bleeding. Hannah patches him up, and afterwards Chris is full of praise at how well Hannah handled the situation. Hannah confesses that she would have liked to have been a paramedic and Chris encouragingly tells her to follow her dreams, echoing the advice she gave to him earlier.
Later, Ash returns to find Phoebe and Kyle continuing to discuss the situation. When Kyle leaves them alone, a distressed Ash tells Phoebe that he’s out, leaving her in tears and alone.
