Extended Summary

Leah lays down the law with Zac, saying he needs to talk to Hunter about his attitude. He’s been rude to her all week and he hurt VJ on purpose at basketball. When Zac goes to talk to Hunter, he denies saying anything hurtful to Leah and still insists he didn’t hurt VJ on purpose. Zac’s willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but Hunter’s going to have to try a lot harder to get along with both Leah & VJ. Hunter agrees, but is it all an act?

Alf, Roo & James are all heading out to the Surf Club sponsors drinks tonight, leaving Matt, Oscar & Maddy home alone. Trying to decide what to get up to, Matt suggests that Oscar & Maddy take this Soulmates quiz in a magazine he’s found. As Matt quizzes Oscar & Maddy about each other, Oscar gets all the questions about Maddy wrong. He quickly realises that Matt seems to know Maddy better than he does. Oscar soon heads out in a huff. Good one Matt!

Chris picks up his beard for the night, Hannah, who’s gone all out to dress the part. Once they arrive, Chris spies Ivana from across the room and immediately wants to bail, feeling stupid. But Hannah bucks him up, saying he doesn’t have to run away with her by his side. Chris chats to Ivana by himself whilst she goes on about her perfect life. Just as Chris is losing all hope, Hannah walks up as the perfect girlfriend and says hi; Ivana is caught off guard and goes to get a drink. Then Marilyn clocks Chris and Hannah together and barrels over with John & Irene. Marilyn starts throwing the questions to the couple and Chris soon crumbles and admits they’re just faking to impress Ivana. Thankfully they all agree to go along with the charade.

That night when Hunter and Charlotte are eating dinner, Charlotte asks why Hunter is so quiet. He tells Charlotte how Leah had a go at him today and doesn’t believe a thing he says. Charlotte says she’s just being a protective mother but Hunter insists Leah is trying to turn Zac against him and Charlotte. He keeps spinning the lies to get Charlotte thinking. Charlotte heads down to the Diner to have a word to Leah and it quickly turns into an argument. Leah then blurts out that they haven’t even done a paternity test! Charlotte is incredulous but Leah is as serious as hell.

At the party, Principal Snelgrove is taking a liking to Irene. As they chat, Snelgrove casually asks Irene if she’d like to go to dinner with him. Irene almost chokes; a date?! She’s stunned. Meanwhile, Ivana is starting to doubt Chris and Hannah’s relationship when Chris can’t remember how long they’ve been together. Hannah sees the ship sinking and makes a drastic move – she kisses Chris! Ivana seems to buy it. As Ivana leaves, Hannah apologises to Chris for the kiss, saying she didn’t know what to do. Chris says it was genius and he thanks Hannah for helping him. Marilyn and Roo corner Irene to ask her what’s the go with her and Snelgrove? They saw she was flirting! She admits Snelgrove asked her out on a date but Irene said no. Marilyn and Roo ask why?! Irene says all that dating stuff is past her and she’s not interested. Roo encourages her to just have a meal with the man; she’s got to eat right? Marilyn agrees. At the end of the evening pushed by Marilyn and Roo, Irene goes to say goodbye to Snelgrove. She turns around and decides to accept Snelgrove’s offer of a date after all.

Chris also says goodbye to Hannah, thanking her again for all she’s done tonight. Hannah’s happy to do it for a friend like Chris. As she leaves, John makes a joke about Chris’s charade he’s put on tonight. He says “as if a girl like Hannah would fall for the town clown!” It’s meant as a light hearted joke, but Chris takes it to heart. As he debriefs with Irene on the way home, Irene assures him that John was just stirring. He’s a fantastic guy, always happy. People love him around here. It’s not clear Chris is convinced.

Maddy goes to find Oscar after the quiz, and he admits he’s a little jealous Matt knows her better than he does. Maddy tells him she doesn’t care if he doesn’t know all that stuff, she loves Oscar. He’s the only guy for her. Oscar realises he’s being dumb and they make up.

Zac finds Charlotte out for a walk and say hi but she’s cold. He asks what’s up and she admits she had a fight with Leah, so Zac’s the last person she wants to see. Charlotte shares that Leah asked for a paternity test. Charlotte doesn’t appreciate being called a liar. She walks off annoyed, and Zac is exhausted at all this drama. When Zac gets home he asks Leah what the paternity test request is all about? Leah apologises, saying it was in the heat of the moment. But Zac pushes, saying Charlotte is upset and angry and he doesn’t blame her. Leah goes on the defensive, saying how do they really know Charlotte’s telling the truth? Zac tells Leah that this puts him in a really difficult position. Leah just wants some support! Leah goes upstairs, furious, saying she’ll sleep alone tonight. This situation is putting their relationship on some very rocky ground.
