Extended Summary

Charlotte comes across Leah, both on their morning walk. Charlotte starts talking about how her and Hunter are still unpacking. Leah curtly replies, at least you’ve had Zac helping. Charlotte assures Leah she meant what she said last week – Leah has nothing to worry about with her and Zac. Charlotte just wants Zac and Hunter to get to know each other. Charlotte again pleads to get their friendship back on track and asks Leah to help make this work for all of them. As Leah arrives home, she overhears Zac apologising to VJ about yesterday. He asks if they can play a game this afternoon, just the two of them. VJ agrees and the ice thaws. Leah is quietly pleased as well.

At the Diner, Marilyn is showing off her new dress for the sponsors drinks tonight to John & Irene. John gets a message and screams “Ivana Frost is coming!” Apparently she’s quite successful & a potential investor. Chris runs up and asks John to repeat the name. His face drops. Irene asks who is she? Chris’s ex. He always feels like such a loser when she’s around. He needs a date. Chris decides to try one of the many ladies from his harem! He rushes out to make some calls. After many rejections, a dejected Chris runs into Denny. He shares his problem and asks Denny to be his date; can she pretend she’s his girlfriend as well? Denny’s amused, saying hell no, Chris will have to keep looking…

When Leah finds Zac getting ready for basketball, she hugs him – she saw him patch things up with VJ earlier. She also ran into Charlotte who offered an olive branch. Leah agrees everyone should be making more of an effort. Zac’s thankful and assures her that none of this changes things between the two of them. Meanwhile at Charlotte’s, Hunter’s come across the old photo of her and Zac. He asks Charlotte if she still loves him? Charlotte says no. Hunter thinks it’s more than that after how she acted around him yesterday. Charlotte insists it’s nothing. Hunter heads down to the diner to get breakfast and Leah serves him. She tries again to make a fresh start, pointing out they’ll be seeing a lot of each other with him living upstairs now. Hunter still insists it’s all for show; she doesn’t really want to get to know Hunter she just thinks she has to for Zac. Leah implores it’s not and once she marries Zac they’ll all be family. Hunter laughs; Leah doesn’t get it. Hunter tells Leah that Charlotte’s still in love with Zac. As Hunter heads out, Leah’s left stunned.

Chris heads into the surf club and spies Hannah coming down from the gym. He runs over to her and asks if she’ll be his date to the drinks tonight. He flatters her with compliments then mentions she’s also got to pretend she’s Chris’s girlfriend. Hannah scoffs, seriously? Then Chris makes a heartfelt plea; this ex of his that will be at the party, he needs to show her his life is as good as hers. This girl broke his heart. Will she be a mate and do this for him?

Zac and VJ are shooting hoops when Hunter walks past the courts, watching. VJ sees that Zac wants to invite him to play but VJ reckons Hunter hates him. Zac assures him he doesn’t, and it’d be good for them to get along. VJ concedes and calls Hunter over. All seems to be going well until Zac gets a call. As he steps off the court, the boys play one on one. Before then even start, Hunter throws the ball hard at VJ. VJ yelps in pain as Zac comes over; he’s hurt his finger.

Roo is debriefing with Leah, having witnessed her talking with Hunter earlier. She asks what he said but Leah’s keeping quiet, except to say she keeps trying to reach out and Hunter keeps throwing it back in her face. He’s pushing her buttons. Roo advises Leah to react then, tell him he’s out of line. Leah’s adamant she can’t; she needs to keep the peace for Zac’s sake. Roo’s not so sure but leaves Leah to do what she thinks is best.

Chris turns up at Hannah’s with folders of baby photos and a book of questions – time to study for their fake date! Chris is hell bent on being so convincing that not just his ex, Ivana, but everyone thinks Hannah is his real date. Hannah thinks it’s a long shot. With Chris’s Q&A, they have some great banter while getting to know each other as though they’re a real couple. As Chris heads off to get ready for the party, Denny passes him and asks Hannah is she going to be Chris’s beard tonight? Hannah admits she was roped in. Denny doesn’t know how she can pretend she’s madly in love with Chris Harrington for a whole night! Hannah agrees, laughing, then smiles to herself.

Zac is checking VJ’s finger but thankfully it’s only sprained. When Zac asks what happened, Hunter says it was an accident and VJ backs it up. Zac takes it at face value but as he moves off, VJ says to Hunter he knows Hunter did that on purpose. Hunter responds “get used to it”. Later as Zac wonders home he crosses with Charlotte. He mentions what happened on the basketball court with the boys, saying he’s not sure if it was an accident or not. Charlotte promises to talk to Hunter to see what she can find out. At their apartment, Charlotte questions Hunter. He denies he did anything wrong and can’t believe Charlotte would even ask that. Charlotte adds that Hunter’s track record isn’t exactly perfect. Hunter swears that VJ has the problem, not him. Charlotte believes him and Hunter is satisfied he got away with the lie.

Back at the diner Leah sees VJ and asks what happened to his hand. She gets out of him that Hunter was playing basketball as well and when she asks if Hunter hurt him on purpose, VJ’s silence says it all. Leah decides it’s time to put a stop to this. She storms outside just as Hunter’s coming down the stairs from the apartment. She tells him off for hurting VJ and say he needs to pull his head in. If he keeps acting like this then Zac’s not going to want to have anything to do with him. Hunter scoffs; you reckon? He tells Leah it’s only a matter of time before his mum and Zac get back together, then the only one Zac won’t want anything to do with is Leah.
