Extended Summary

Phoebe and Kat are moving all their stuff into Hannah & Denny’s – all the girls are super excited. Kat gets a message and has to run off to the hospital, where Nate tells her about Billie going missing. Billie’s burns need daily attention but Nate’s more worried about her state of mind. He tells Kat that she’s not in a good way and needs a psychiatrist. Kat promises to call it in to the station. Kat also adds since she’s on bail, if she’s not back by tomorrow morning they’ll have to issue a warrant for her arrest. Kat heads to Angelo’s to fill Ash in and see if he knows anything.

Ricky’s at the share house sorting through mail. She sees a hand written envelope with her name on it – it’s the same one Billie wrote on in the hospital. Just as Ricky’s about to open it Ash & Phoebe rush in. Has Ricky seen Billie? They search her room but her stuff is still here, including her car. Ash tells Ricky that the police are out there looking for her like she’s skipped bail, but all he knows is that right after he told Billie he didn’t believe her, she’s done a runner. Ash is distressed so Phoebe & Ricky both agree to help him search for her. Ricky leaves the letter Billlie wrote unopened…

Charlotte and Andy are finishing up a meal at the diner when Hannah walks in. She hesitates, then goes over to say hi. Hannah introduces herself to Charlotte before she heads to the counter. Alone, Hannah and Andy are civil, even nice to each other. As they leave, Hannah takes a deep breath – at least she got through that ok. When she gets home she tells Denny. Yes it was weird and awkward, but she admits Charlotte seems nice. Denny suggests Hannah gets back out there herself. She opens a dating app for Hannah to try – Smouldr. Hannah says there’s no way she’s ready for a new guy but Denny simply leaves the phone next to Hannah as she exits. Hannah, curious, takes a look.

Kat & Nate are helping to try and find Billie but no one is having any luck. She hasn’t accessed her bank account and no one has recognised her photo at the local bus stops out of town. Kat suggests they wait until tomorrow but Ash won’t wait. Kat promises to have the search teams ready to go first thing in the morning, as Ash tries not to fear the worst.

Andy comes home to the share house with Charlotte and she asks if Hannah is his ex. Andy says that his “fake” girlfriend wouldn’t care about that so Charlotte responses, maybe this is real then. The two start kissing and as it’s gets hot and heavy, they knock over Ricky’s pile of mail. The envelope with Billie’s note to Ricky falls behind the bookshelf. After their roll in the hay, Charlotte departs but leaves her purse behind. Andy grabs it to run it out to her and it falls open, revealing a baby picture. When Andy returns the wallet to her, he asks if the baby in the photo is hers. Charlotte says it’s a friend’s kid then quickly changes the subject. Is she lying?

Phoebe fills Denny & Hannah in on the situation with Billie. The girl’s welcome drinks for their new housemates will have to wait. As Phoebe heads off to be with Ash, Denny & Hannah can’t help but be a little disappointed. Hannah pulls out her phone and starts playing with it. Denny cheekily grabs it off her and sees she’s using Smouldr! There’s a hot guy on it that’s asked Hannah out for tonight. Denny encourages her to go, volunteering her services for discreet supervision in the background in case he’s a psycho. At the Diner, Hannah’s all dressed up waiting for her date. He turns out to be very cute, so not a psycho, and things progress well. Hannah gets a chance to sneak away and tell her chaperone, Denny, that she thinks it’s time she leaves. Hannah admits she actually really likes him. Denny heads home. The next morning Denny catches Hannah kissing goodbye her date as he leaves the house. You go girl!

Phoebe finds Ash just near the caravan park still searching for Billie. She tries to reason with him that he’s not going to find her in the dark. He’s determined not to sit by and do nothing but Phoebe calms him down enough to talk. Ash opens up about how he feels he let Billie down. When their parents died young, it was up to Ash and his brother to bring up Billie. Then his brother went to the army and Ash brought Billie into the wrong crowd, introduced her to bad people. Then Ash went to gaol and left her all alone. He blames himself for the way she’s been acting since she got to the Bay. Phoebe reasons that he can’t be responsible for another persons actions, but all Ash feels is guilt & concern.

The next morning, Alf is helping Ash, Phoebe & Ricky coordinate a search for Billie. Since there’s no signs she’s left town they decide to stick to public areas – beaches, parks & bushland. Chris turns up to offer his help in the search too, feeling a little guilty for the way he treated her. Kat and the police are searching the headland so Alf and the gang decide to start on the beach. Out searching in the bush, Kat gets a radio call of a sighting of a young female near the lighthouse, wrapped in a hospital blanket. Kat is the nearest officer and heads to find her. She sees Billie from afar sitting near the edge of a cliff. She heads towards her tentatively, asks if she wants some food. Billie just stares out to sea, not turning around. Billie muses – she used to have two brothers. She lose one a while ago…now she thinks she has none left. Kat tells her that she hasn’t lost Ash; he’s been out looking for her all night. He’s gutted over the way things have turned out. Kat tries to coax Billie to come with her back to the hospital, or just to talk. Then Kat’s radio crackles with a message. Billie hears it and turns, now seeing Kat in her uniform. She panics, thinking Kat has come to arrest her. As she freaks out Kat can see her getting dangerously close to the edge. Just before Billie makes a fatal step back, Kat lunges out to grab her as Billie steps to the side. Kat goes over the cliff but manages to grab on to the rock’s edge. Kat’s screaming for Billie’s help and Billie just stands there. What will she do?
