Evie plays matchmaker with Matt and Maddy. Alf is in denial about his PTSD and takes it out on his loved ones. Ash finds out about Billie and Kyle.
Extended Summary
Ash fights with Kyle, Billie tries to break it up then Ricky walks in and demands they cool down. Ash leaves saying it isn’t over, hitting the door on his way out. Ricky makes Kyle tell her what happened, then tells him to go and talk to Billie. Kyle talks to Billie, she knows what he’s going to say, it was a mistake, he’s not over Phoebe. Kyle goes and finds Ash to apologise but Ash grabs him and starts having a go again. Billie interrupts and takes the blame but Ash doesn’t seem convinced. He goes after Billie who’s upset. She insists it’s her fault and says that guys always leave her.
Ricky gets overwhelmed and upset unpacking baby hand-me-downs. She hurriedly leaves home and goes into Angelo’s where Kyle is surprised to see her as she’s not rostered on. A calmer Ash comes in, Kyle apologises to him and Ash tells them how worried he is about Billie, that he’s scared she may take off again. Ricky offers to talk to her. Ricky tells Billie not to move out, and they chat about boys. Later on Billie goes to speak to Kyle, and they make peace, agreeing to be just mates. Ash thanks Ricky for talking to Billie. Ricky’s upset, she tells him how unprepared she feels, how worried she is that she’ll mess up when the baby comes.
Maddy offers Alf something to eat then when she sits down she asks about the photo of Ailsa. He’s not pleased that she has it and tells her to mind her own flamin’ business. Roo comes in to find Maddy trying not to be upset about his reaction. Roo reassures her and later speaks to Alf about it. He admits it wasn’t his finest hour, but still pushes away Roo’s offers to help. The next day Alf goes fishing, but ends up in despairing tears.
Maddy talks to Matt about Alf. Their serious conversation turns warm and joking. Evie and Josh see them fooling about and enjoying themselves and Evie decides to push them together by suggesting a spur of the moment camping trip – tonight. The teens arrive and start to set up camp. Evie’s plan starts to come together as they realise they’ve only got two tents – Josh offers to share with Matt but he says no, he’ll sleep under the stars so that Josh can share with his girlfriend, and Maddy makes him a deal – if he puts her tent up he can sleep in it too. Later that night they’re all sitting around a campfire. Evie makes moves to go to bed early and unsubtly makes Josh go with her. Maddy and Matt joke about Josh being under Evie’s thumb. Maddy decides to go to bed too, and Matt follows, with Evie sneakily watching. Matt offers to sleep top to tail but Maddy says she doesn’t want his stinky feet in her face. The banter continues. The next morning Evie wants to hear if anything happened, Matt thinks she’s referring to the fact that they played Candy Crush all night when she said no technology. Josh then tells Matt while Evie can’t hear them that she thinks Matt and Maddy should get together, which annoys Matt who protests that they’re just friends. After Josh and Evie drop Matt and Maddy off Matt turns down Maddy’s offer of breakfast saying he wants to check up on Leah. Maddy spots Alf down on the beach, and he apologises in his own way. Maddy assures him that he’s not weak for having a problem, and getting help for it – comparing it with her cancer. Later Alf tells Roo and Maddy that he needs to get some help, and that he’s going to take the Blaxland out for a couple of days to get away and think.
