Will Brax go down for a murder he didn’t commit? Wracked with guilt, Ash offers to plead guilty to the murder. Oscar tries to convince Maddy to come back to Summer Bay. Chris and Spencer attempt some damage control for Phoebe.

Extended Summary

Brax is taken to the police station after being arrested for the murder of Dean. Ricky turns up at the station, telling the police that Brax has done nothing wrong. Brax urges Ricky to leave and let him sort it out. Brax is questioned by the new police officer, Kat, about what he was doing the night Dean was murdered. Brax tells her he went for a walk. Kat produces a photograph of the murder weapon – an old shovel – and tells Brax that his prints are on it.

Ash, feeling extremely guilty, comes clean to Ricky about what happened in the desert. He tells her that he spent the night drinking, and the next morning Brax turned up with the money, telling Ash he’d left Dean alive but with a long walk home. Ricky is incensed – why did Ash let Brax go alone? Ash argues that Brax is not an easy man to control. Brax is let out on bail, but the evidence against him does not look good. His guilt spiking, Ash tells Brax that he’ll tell the police he killed Dean, not wanting to tear Ricky and Brax apart.

Oscar and Maddy are still in the city, but they’re quickly running out of money to pay for food and accommodation. When they both realise they’ve sat down to a lunch they can’t pay for, Maddy makes them do a runner! Maddy laughs, happy to be on an adventure. But Oscar is practical: they can’t stay in the city if they don’t have any money. Maddy tells him they can sleep under the stars. They find a park to sleep in, and Oscar discretely texts Spencer to update him on the situation. The next morning, Oscar wakes and Maddy is gone. She quickly turns up, showing him a wad of cash. She’s sold his guitar to pay for breakfast. Oscar urges Maddy to consider her health – worried about the effects of sleeping rough and living on the run. But Maddy’s not ready to go home. Oscar still has his work cut out for him.

Chris sees the viral video of Phoebe online. Not knowing the full story, he assumes that Phoebe was complicit in the video and that the rock’n’roll lifestyle has gone to her head. He sits Phoebe down and tells her that there are other ways to get attention. Phoebe arcs up when she realises what he’s talking about, telling him that her drink was spiked and the video filmed against her will. Chris tires to apologise for his blunder, but Phoebe storms off angrily. When Chris notices a misleading article on Phoebe’s video in the local paper, he recruits Spencer to help collect as many of the newspapers as they can, to try to minimise the damage to Phoebe’s reputation. Phoebe finds the giant pile of newspapers at the Braxton house, thankful that she has Chris looking out for her. Meanwhile, Kyle wants Phoebe to take action against Neive. Stuck in hospital, he’s unable to help or do anything useful. Phoebe brings his laptop to the hospital so he can work from there, but it’s clear Kyle is eager for things to get back to normal.
