Extended Summary
Every conversation between Ric and Matilda seems to descend into argument. Matilda is set on going to Western Australia for uni and Ric sees the bait shop as his future. Nevertheless, the thought of losing each other has both doubting their resolve.
Later in the evening Tony gives Matilda the support she needs, a pearl necklace Beth bought for her before she died, to give to Matilda when she got into uni. Knowing what her mother would have advised, Matilda tells Ric she’s going to Perth, with or without him, and unfortunately he’s decided to stay in Summer Bay. But the young lovers decide to try a long distance relationship, to do whatever they can to make this work.
Despite Rachel’s worries, Tony assures her he really is okay about having the reverse vasectomy. He is willing to risk the operation for the woman he loves for the chance for her to have children?
Aden and Larry are continuing to get closer, but when he shouts his dad a meal at the Diner, it’s hard for Aden to ignore the awkwardness between Belle and his father. Both of them insist that it’s all in his imagination, but Belle’s stress at keeping the truth of Larry’s drinking from Aden renders her less than believable. Then an off the cuff remark from Nicole about Aden’s secret gets him thinking.
Could Larry have told Belle the truth about his grandfather? After convincing himself, he confronts her on it, but only succeeds in giving her questions he doesn’t want to answer. Belle is cornered and admits to Aden that she caught his father drinking. Aden looses it once again and storms out.
