Sasha receives an offer for her first choice of university, while Matt fails to get any offers. Zac and VJ learn some devastating news about Leah’s prognosis.
Extended Summary
Evelyn struggles to process the news that Hannah may never walk again. When she and Josh see Nate at the beach, Evelyn asks him what the worst case scenario is for Hannah. He tells her that they’ll need a lot of support. Meanwhile, Sasha is driving herself crazy waiting for the first round of university offers to come out. She can’t stop refreshing her computer impatiently. Matt slips off and bumps into Evelyn and Josh. Sensing that Evie needs a distraction, Matt brings them back to Sasha’s to watch a movie. Evie and Sasha go for a walk along the beach, and Sasha tries to give Evelyn hope by opening up about her brother, Dex. She tells him that when Dex was severely injured, everyone rallied around him, and now he’s having the time of his life in Paris. When Sasha gets home, she looks up the offers but they still aren’t up. Matt secretly looks up his own university offers and finds out he hasn’t received a single offer. Sasha later bangs on the door and runs in, telling Matt excitedly that she got into her first choice, Redside College! Matt lies to Sasha, saying he hasn’t been able to log in yet.
Chris sees John reading a copy of the newspaper with the saucy Phoebe story in it. He tells Chris that they went missing so he ordered a new run. Chris grabs the newspaper from John and runs off with it. When Evie and Josh turn up at the house, Chris and Spencer are sorting through the newspapers from the Surf Club, removing the salacious story about Phoebe. Josh learns about the incident at Phoebe’s gig and Evie learns from Spencer that Oscar hasn’t been in touch with him recently. Meanwhile, John tries to find a short-term rental to move into, but Alf assures him that his family is still welcome to stay with them.
Zac and VJ return from the city hospital where they’ve been visiting Leah. She’s still in a coma, but Nate gets a call from her doctors saying that her latest CT scan looks positive. The pressure is easing on her brain and they’re going to try and ease her off the ventilator. Irene sees that Zac is struggling and offers to look after VJ for a few days. Zac feels like he’s barely holding it together. As everyone hopes for the best, Nate gets a devastating phone call. The doctors couldn’t take Leah off the ventilator. In fact, there’s been no change to her condition and they’ve concluded that it’s likely she’ll never awake from her coma. VJ and Zac struggle to compute the terrible news.
