Hunter receives a surprise visitor. Alf’s glad to have Roo home, but it’s clear there’s something bothering her. Will Scarlett leave the Bay after slapping Justin?

Extended Summary

Hunter’s not having much luck finding anything out about his real father. Olivia supports him, he needs to be patient. She’s confident they will find his dad in time. Irene brings mail in for Hunter, it’s his birth certificate. Zac is listed as his father so it’s no help to him. Irene suggests he contact his grandmother, but he’s not keen on bothering her. He’s really at a dead end. Olivia encourages Hunter to contact his grandmother, but Hunter’s reluctant and changes the subject. At lunch, Olivia tells VJ Hunter refuses to call his grandmother. Hunter arcs up and tells Olivia to back off. Later, Olivia asks Hunter what’s going on with him and his grandmother. Hunter explains his grandmother didn’t attend his mother’s funeral, practically disowning her own daughter. She didn’t even call him. Olivia is sure she still cares about him, maybe it’s time to reach out again. She might be the only way to find his dad. Hunter calls his grandmother but when she answers he hangs up. Olivia finds Hunter sitting in the dark. Hunter tells her he hung up on his grandmother, he couldn’t do it. There’s a knock on the door. Olivia opens it, shocked to find Hunter’s grandmother on the other side.

Roo fills Alf in on her trip. She didn’t have any luck finding her daughter, but she gave it her best shot. Both Alf and Roo miss her. Alf can see that Roo seems a bit off. Alf hands Roo her mail and she finds a letter from James apologising for what happened. She shrugs it off, not wanting Alf to worry. When he leaves for the Bait Shop, Roo let’s her happy demeanour fade. What’s bothering her? Roo fills John in on her trip. Roo tried as best she could, but she thinks it’s time to give it up and move on. John tries to counsel her, get her to open up. He conveys that trying to find out about his past was upsetting. Roo is keen to avoid this conversation and makes an excuse to leave. Alf suggests Roo catch up with Irene and Marilyn for dinner, but Roo claims she’s too tired from the flight. Alf tells Roo she’s amazing. Roo laughs it off. What’s up with Roo?

In the morning, Scarlett finds Justin working on her boat engine again. The atmosphere is tense. She didn’t expect him to be there and offers to get someone else to fix it instead. Justin tells her it’s fine and she leaves. Justin finds Scarlett, the boat is repaired. They both apologise for yesterday. Scarlett tells him he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and Justin tells her to set him straight then. Scarlett asks him to drop it, she’s entitled to her privacy and she doesn’t want to talk about it. Justin doesn’t understand why she lied to him, he thought they were being better mates. It’s obvious there’s something wrong. Justin pushes and Scarlett bursts again, she’s done with him and Summer Bay. She’s leaving. Scarlett goes to Alf, telling him she has to leave town, she won’t be able to work for him anymore. Alf offers to help with whatever’s wrong, but Scarlett’s keen to get moving. Alf learns Justin and Scarlett had argued about Scarlett’s kid – news to Alf. He heads straight to the Morgans to confront Justin. Justin tells Alf Scarlett’s lied to them all about her family and the kid she abandoned in Adelaide. Alf’s not sure about that, Scarlett’s a good woman and Justin shouldn’t run around making assumptions about her. Justin of all people should know better given what people were saying about the Morgans when the witness protection news came out. The last thing Scarlett needs is to be driven out of town by somebody who doesn’t know the full story. Alf tells Justin to fix it. Justin finds Scarlett at the diner and explains he spent eight years in witness protection, which meant he couldn’t see daughter for all that time. It messed him up. That’s why he didn’t understand why Scarlett could be away from her child. But whatever her situation is, he’s not going to pry. He asks her not to leave. Scarlett goes to Alf and tells him she’s decided to stay in town. Justin came to see her and explained some things. She thanks Alf for his help. Alf hands her his fishing rod so she can get some time to herself and Scarlett’s touched. With Alf’s rod, Scarlett finds Justin on the pier and asks if she can join him. Justin’s glad she’s sticking around. She knows he has questions but she’s not ready to answer them. Not yet. Justin agrees not to push it.
