Extended Summary

Olivia comes to support Mason on his first official day as a lifeguard. She tries to address the elephant in the room – her lingering feelings for Hunter, but Mason is having none of it. His family has been experiencing real problems. They just got out of witness protection and their friend died last week. He doesn’t have time for her drama. Olivia heads home, flustered.

Bianca notes that Heath is still holding a grudge, but he won’t admit it. Darcy watches her parents’ cold war with unease. When it’s time to go to school she lashes out, telling them both to get stuffed. Heath finds her hiding out at the Diner. Darcy is convinced there’s no point going to school, Heath and Bianca are going to split up and ruin everything anyway. She’s sick of their fighting. He’s been saying it will get better for a year and nothing has changed.
Alone, Heath and Bianca finally call each other out on how absurd this situation is. They’re going in circles. Heath suggests they go away, and have that honeymoon they missed out on. Darcy is wary, but happy for her parents, warning Heath to take care of Bianca while they’re away. As they all hug it out, it’s clear that Darcy still isn’t convinced it will work out. Heath and Bianca prepare to leave on their trip, but as they drive off, a mysterious figure watches and follows them…

Kat questions Ash about the garage fire the other day. It was clearly purposefully lit. Ash suggests it could have something to do with Justin’s witness protection. Kat isn’t ruling anything out yet. Ash downloads to Billie. He can’t believe how distant and cold Kat is being. Ash had hoped they could still be friends. Billie isn’t surprised though. They’re interrupted by VJ and Leah arriving home. Leah’s parents have chipped in and sent Billie and VJ a check for $10,000, to support the baby. Billie is privately aghast. She doesn’t want charity. Ash admits he tried to stop them.

At the Diner, Ash checks in on Billie, wondering if she’s feeling guilty about the money. Billie tries to brush it off, but when Irene checks in on her, Billie hurries off to be alone. She’s clearly feeling more guilt than she can admit to anyone. Ash argues with VJ about going to the cops or getting someone for Billie to talk to about the rape. He can’t handle doing nothing about it. VJ warns him to respect Billie’s wishes. Ash doesn’t wait long before going to Kat, and making up a story about a girl he knows that was raped around the start of the year – asking if she could find out if there were any dodgy suspects in town around that time. Kat will take a look but makes it clear that this girl needs to come in and give a statement. Ash panics, and backs off.

Mason bumps into Hunter on his way to the beach, the tension is palpable. Mason can’t help but take the opportunity to have a dig at Hunter for still carrying a torch for Olivia. Hunter accuses him of being controlling. Things escalate until Mason punches Hunter. Alf breaks up the fight before things get any further along. Alf tells Irene and Olivia about the fist fight. Olivia jumps to the conclusion that Hunter must have gone into a rage and started the fight, but she’s surprised to learn from him that Mason threw the first punch. Mason later apologises to Olivia, he’s not that kind of guy, there’s so much going on in his life at the moment, he surprised himself. Olivia wants to start over. Mason would like that except that he doesn’t think it’s a good time for the two of them to jump into a relationship, he hopes she finds happiness though, and with that, Mason leaves Olivia.

Irene and Olivia talk through her boy trouble and come to the conclusion that perhaps it’s time for Olivia to spend a little bit of time alone.

Ash tries to convince Billie to go to the police, he’s certain she would sleep better at night knowing that her attacker was locked up. He mentions his visit to Kat. Billie tells him to let it go, it’s clearly eating Ash up, and she doesn’t want her attacker to have power over any of them. She makes Ash promise to let it go.

Ash finishes up working his problems out at the gym when Kat arrives. His insurance company is claiming the fire was an attempt at insurance fraud. Ash finds the accusation absurd but Kat is taking it seriously, he needs to come to the station now.
