Extended Summary

In the hotel room, Duncan is on the phone trying to find out more information about what’s happened to Caroline. Tori decides to leave. The next morning she talks to Justin about her worries. She confesses that she was half relieved when Duncan got the call, so she could get away. As they talk, Tori catches sight of Nate under the beach shower. Is she still torn between him and Duncan? Meanwhile, Duncan talks to Roo. Duncan suspects Tori was relieved when they were interrupted, but Roo says he’s probably overthinking it – Tori wouldn’t have gone to the hotel with him if she wasn’t interested in taking things further.

Billie and VJ are making wedding plans, while Olivia and Hunter study. They seem to agree on everything until VJ suggests they pick bridesmaids and groomsmen. Billie refuses to have any. VJ quietly talks to John and Marilyn about it, but they disagree – John thinks a bit of arguing is healthy, and that VJ should start saying no to everything that Billie suggests to get what he wants but Marilyn doesn’t agree, worried by where this nonsense is going to lead. VJ tries out John’s theory and it just leads to him and Billie fighting. As she gets more upset, VJ backs down.

Olivia chats to Irene about studying. Irene asks when Olivia’s next tutor session is but when Olivia pulls out her phone and checks her calendar, she pales, realising that she’s missed her period. As Hunter walks to his exam, doing some last minute cramming, he finds Olivia, upset. She tries to tell him it’s nothing, not wanting to distract him before his exam, but he persuades her to tell him. They can’t believe it’s happening again, they’ve been so careful since Olivia got pregnant and had the abortion. Olivia urges Hunter to get to his exam and he heads off, in turmoil. Afterwards, Olivia comes to find Hunter and he tells her that he couldn’t concentrate. She tries to speak, but he stops her, telling her that it doesn’t have to be like last time, they could keep the baby – Olivia cuts him off, she’s not pregnant. Hunter flips, blaming Olivia for ruining his chances of passing the exam. Olivia leaves, upset and goes to talk to Irene again, who thinks that there’s too much drama between Hunter and Olivia. Olivia goes and apologises to Hunter, who also says he’s sorry. Worried, she asks him whether they have too much drama in their lives. They agree that they’ve had a bad year but that they have each other. As soon as Olivia goes though, Hunter’s face falls. He’s not as happy as he’s making out.

At the hospital, Nate congratulates Tori on being asked to speak at the medical conference in Bali. There’s a moment of silence, and Tori breaks it, admitting that she doesn’t want him to go to CareFlight. He says it’s a bit late – the fitness assessment is next week. Before they can talk further, Duncan arrives and Nate quickly leaves them to it. Duncan tells Tori that Caroline has broken her leg, and that he’s going to need to go back to America to help her. Tori tells him that she’ll miss him, then Duncan says she could come with him? Tori overreacts saying that she’s needed at the hospital, and how could she possibly be expected to go? He is taken aback, and leaves, muttering that he needs to pack. In Salt, Tori talks it over with Justin, who thinks that if someone’s right, they’re worth turning your life upside down for. So is that Duncan? Tori goes to see Duncan. She tells him that she does care about him, and that she’ll wait. Roo interrupts their kiss – they have to get to the airport. Duncan leaves reluctantly. Back at the hospital, Tori tells Nate that Duncan’s gone. He gives her a list of her fellow conference speakers and her face falls. She moves away making an urgent phone call: she needs to withdraw from the conference. At Salt, Tori confides in Justin – her ex, Riley Hawkins, is also speaking at the conference. Justin is immediately on high alert, insisting that she can’t go, Riley will blow her cover. Tori thinks there’s a way that she can go through – as herself, Tessa Lee.
