Emmerdale has teased “stormy times ahead” in its summer preview, promising months of jealousy, revenge and betrayal as the drama heats up alongside the weather.

A press release teases:

There’s stormy times ahead in Emmerdale as secrets and lies resurface and relationships begin to fracture. It’s a summer of jealousy, revenge, and betrayal with Kev, Lewis, Mack, Robert, Ross and Billy all taking centre stage.

Mack (Lawrence Robb) is finding it difficult to see a way back from Charity’s (Emma Atkins) deception and the realisation that Ross (Mike Parr) is Leyla’s real father. Mack manages to suppress his anger at Ross’ betrayal, although inevitably the situation comes to a head as they argue and a barnside tussle leaves someone’s life hanging in the balance.

Although her wedding day is fast approaching, Dawn (Olivia Bromley) is struggling to see her ex Billy (Jay Kontzle) dating Gabby (Rosie Bentham).

Soon even Joe (Ned Porteous), the groom to be, starts to wonder if Gabby might be right about Dawn still having feelings for Billy. Will the wedding of the summer go off without a hitch or will jealousy destroy their big day?

Lewis (Bradley Riches) finally decides to give his biological dad, Kev (Chris Coghill), a chance, but their reunion is short-lived. Shocked to find the cafe has been ransacked and theorising who could be behind the robbery, the idea inevitably arises that Kev had something to do with it; and Lewis is determined to find out the truth.

Outraged by the accusation, Kev adamantly denies any involvement in the robbery. Kev tries to plead his case but Lewis is having none of it. Has he blown his chance to be a father already?

Robert (Ryan Hawley) is rattled when Kev suddenly remembers where he knows his long-lost cousin, Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsey) from. When Robert is struck unconscious by a runaway farm trailer, Aaron (Danny Miller) is deeply suspicious that Serena just happened to be at the scene.

He lays out his theory to Robert, and he and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) agree to keep an eye on her. As he and Chas dig for answers, a secret on Serena’s stolen phone threatens to blow everything wide open. Robert confronts a floundering Serena with proof she is lying. What is she keeping from them and will they be able to forgive her deception?
