~Zoe~ Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Wimbledon kicks off this Monday and hopes are high for Andy Murray. Also hopes are high the weather will hold, but maybe looking at a 3rd week with Rain showers looming. who does everyone want to win Wimbledon, and who do people think will win Wimbledon? Men, Want: Andy Murray Dark Horse: Andy Roddick (Can never discount him from Wimbledon, and although his form (Queens aside) has been terrible, I think he is still a massive contender) Think: Roger Federer (Nadal looks tired, plus i see on Eurosport he went back to Majorca, and is training on clay courts, although he will be back at the tail end of this week, i just dont see him as being fit enough to win) latest odds The Men Rafa Nadal 2/1 Roger Federer 9/4 Novak Djokovic 7/2 Andy Murray 6/1 Juan Martin Del Potro 20/1 Jo Wilfried Tsonga 33/1 Robin Soderling 33/1 Andy Roddick 50/1 John Isner 66/1 Richard Gasquet 100/1 David Nalbandian 150/1 Ivo Karlovic 150/1 Nicolas Mahut 200/1 The Women Serena Williams 3/1 Maria Sharapova 4/1 Venus Williams 13/2 Li Na 7/1 Petra Kvitova 8/1 Caroline Wozniacki 10/1 Victoria Azarenka/Vera Zvonareva 12/1 Sam Stosur/Andrea Petkovic/Daniela Hantuchova 25/1 Marion Bartoli 33/1 Jelena Jankovic 40/1 Ana Ivanovic 50/1 66/1 Francesca Schiavone
LauraPhilly!! Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Well considering his performance in Queens, I'm not sure how successful Andy Roddick will be! Andy Murray will do well but I don't think he will win...again! Nadal and Federer are just too good! They'll be in the final again, they're the best male tennis players out there at the moment! Murray will only have a chance of winning if one or more of them is beaten (highly unlikely) or bows out! They are just on a different level to him completely! Looking forward to Wimbledon I must say! I watch it every year! I wonder if the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge will make an appearance at the semi-final or final...?
~Zoe~ Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 ^ I know, I think Andy Murray will do well, I reckon he will get to the semi final like last year - don't think he will win. Can't wait ... roll on Monday! Men's Champ from the following please - Roddick, Federer, Men's Champ from the following please - Roddick, Federer, Djokovic or Nadal.
irish_angel Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Can't wait for Wimbledon to start Really looking forward to John Isner and Nicolas Mahut meeting in the first round, after their record breaking match at last years tournament it will be interesting to see who comes out on top this time round. As for the winner of the mens title it will probably be either Nadal and Federer but i really hope someone else wins as it gets a bit boring if it's that predictable every year. The womens title, i would like to see either Maria Sharapova or Vera Zvonareva win this year. Roll on Monday

Lesley Bee Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 I Love Love Love Wimbledon Like everyone, i really hope Andy Murray does well, i dont think he will win (although i would love him to) im thinking the quarters or semi's maybe If not Murray, i really hope for a Nadal win, he is just an amazing player (and cute) Havent made up my mind about the women yet.........
~Zoe~ Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 He had a shaky start but I'm glad that Andy Murray is through
LauraPhilly!! Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Andy Murray...jeez I was wondering at one point today whether we would be saying goodbye to him already! Good thing he got better in the 2nd and 3rd set! Looking forward to Federer's first match! He's playing tomorrow I presume...?!
~Zoe~ Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Yes, I thought that too, shame about the first set. Good match for Murray, sort of wish the other guy kept up his standard but in the end Murray outplayed him. That match point was just ridiculous. Tuesday schedule according to piers newberry - Centre: Serena, Federer, Djokovic. Ct1: Roddick, Wozniacki, Soderling. Ct3: Isner-Mahut fourth on
irish_angel Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Watched mostly the ladies singles matches yesterday. Have to say that Alison Riske really gave Vera Zvonareva a run for her money and when they were tied at 3-3 in the last set i thought Riske was going to beat her. Also watched the Francesca Schiavone v Jelena Dokic match and saw bits of Rafael Nadal v Michael Russell. Looking forward to John Isner v's Nicolas Mahut & Anna Chakvetadze v's Maria Sharapova later today.
