Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows Maude and The Golden Girls and who won a Tony Award for the musical Mame, died on Saturday. She was 86.

Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give further details.

I was shocked at this I loved the Golden Girls. The two remaining actresses left is Betty White and Rue McClanahan.

Mods, please move if in wrong thread :)

Aw, what!? :( I liked her... I guess she had to go sometime... I mean, she was already old before I was born  Still, cancer isn't old age, and I guess it's fair to find it a shock that she's gone. So sad :(
