WHILE former Home and Away heartthrob Chris Hemsworth is making the move from the small screen to the big screen, Luke Carroll is doing things the other way round.

The Sydney hunk, whose last acting job was on the Aussie flick The Tender Hook with Hugo Weaving and Rose Byrne, is heading to Summer Bay.

The seven-week guest role will be the end of a year-long acting drought for the 28-year-old, who told film writer Erin McWhirter he had been forced to work in bars to make ends meet before bumping into a Home and Away producer at the Logies after-party.

Carroll, who started his acting career with a stint on The Flying Doctors back in the 90s, will play a hospital intern in the Channel 7 soapie when he hits our screens in October.

He may also be remembered for his role alongside Cathy Freeman in the SBS travel series Going Bush.

Other Aussiewood stars Rachael Griffiths, Miranda Otto and Anthony LaPaglia also made the movie from movies to the box. Share this article

was he in the Alice?

Yep. Luke was on the Channel Nine telemovie The Alice back in 2004, as well as the short lived series in 2005. His character's name was Michael Anderson!

He has also appeared on the 2006 SBS mini-series, RAN: Remote Area Nurse.
