^ How odd!

I'm trying to decide how that could relate to the concept behind the title 'Home and Away', which (unless I'm terribly mistaken) refers to the idea that although the fostered children are away from their family, they have found a new home with a foster family.

Unless there is no connection and all was lost in translation.

Wow, the French obviously like their Australian television! They have "Skippy le kangourou", "Les Twist", "Océane" (I think it was called Ocean Odessey over here) and "Rivaux mais pas trop" (Snobs). Can't find Neighbours in the list, though - surprisingly. :P

Norwegians too seem to like Aussie shows. We have or have had Home&Away, Skippy the bush kangaroo, Heartbreak High, Don't blame the koalas, Australian princess, McLeouds daughters, Ocean Girl, City homicide and a bunch of documentaries every now and then. I'm sure there are more, but that's the ones I can remember.

I didn't even know Home&Away is shown in Israel, it sure must be one of the most widely broadcasted soaps.

In Flanders (the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium), it's called Home & Away and has Dutch subtitles.

In Wallonia (the French-speaking part of Belgium), it was called Summer Bay and was dubbed in French. They stopped showing it. I've never had the opportunity to see how it was like.

In France, it is called Summer Bay. It's dubbed in French. They started showing Home & Away in September 2006. So, I doubt they started from the beginning.

I don't think it's still broadcast in France. I just checked the website of NT1 (the channel who broadcasts the show in France) and Summer Bay isn't listed in their programmes anymore.

The dubbing was probably horrible like most of the time, especially when you've already heard the real voice of the actors/actresses.

France also shows The Sleepover Club but it's called Pyjama Party. Heartbreak High had a lot of fans in France; it was called Hartley, coeurs à vif.

The Dutch-speaking part of Belgium also likes Australian shows. We have Home & Away, Neighbours, All Saints, The Sleepover Club, McLeod's Daughters. We had Heartbreak High, Blue Heelers and Skippy the Bush Kangaroo too but they're not broadcast at the moment, I think.

I don't think they still show it in France. I did catch a few episodes when it was on just out of curiosity because I hate it when it is dubbed in another language and no, they did not start from the beginning because Isabel Lucas was already in the episodes.

I never knew they aired it in Wallonia, when was that ?

Anyway, we are lucky that at least in Flanders we do not have to watched it dubbed even if we are far behind.

^^ I don't know exactly when Home & Away was aired in Wallonia. I think it was at the end of 2006 or the beginning of 2007. It aired on AB3. I saw that in a French TV guide back then but I didn't have that channel at that time. We have the Digicorder from Telenet now and we can watch AB3 but unfortunately, it's not aired anymore. :(

To be honest I did not even know there was such a channel as AB3. I guess I will find out about that channel soon enough because I just bought the digicorder myself but I still have to hook it up. I guess if it's a French channel they also dub all their programs.

Yes, they dub their shows. The shows on that channel are not that great and most of the time, they are reruns.

I am not surprised, I hate it when they dub the shows. I think all of our Belgian channels suffer from the same disease so to speak, almost nothing but reruns and reality shows. I just wish they would air some good new shows.
