Extended Summary

At Salt, Willow is mopping up while she and Dean berate Bella for trying to burn the place down, saying she or someone else could have been hurt. Dean thinks this is the last thing Colby needs but Bella says she was doing it for him. Willow thinks she should leave it to Colby and Mackenzie to sort out but Bella insists she has Colby’s back and storms out. Willow tells Dean to leave her, since she won’t listen when she’s like this. Meanwhile, at the Morgan house, Justin and Leah are doing the washing up after putting Ava to bed. They splash each other and suggest a shower together but are interrupted by Mason with a bottle of champagne, explaining he’s had his last shift at Salt. They celebrate with him.

Next morning, Willow has run a session on the beach and tells Alex she hasn’t seen her in a while. Alex notes Mason usually takes the classes. Willow jokes that Alex stole him and suggests more PT sessions, which Alex agrees to. Dean comes along and asks Willow if she’s seen Bella. Willow points out Dean does crazy stuff but Dean thinks Bella could end up in juvie. He wonders if they should tell Colby but both think he couldn’t handle it at the moment. Dean decides to see Bella himself, despite Willow warning she won’t listen if he goes in hard. At the Morgan house, Justin is making pancakes but ignores Leah and Ava telling him to flip it and burns one side. Mason appears; he is sad Tori doesn’t know, so the others suggest taking a photo to send to Raffy and Brody and tell Tori later. Ava takes it and one of him with a “serious” face (although it looks more like a dating site photo). Justin notes a call from Brian on Ava’s phone but Ava says she’ll call back later and takes a photo of Leah, Justin and Mason together.

Mason arrives at the hospital and collides with an equipment trolley. Alex jokes about reacquainting himself with the equipment, then reminds him it is reacquainting, since he’s done this before. He says it seems more official this time. She suggests they start with patient rounds, saying there’s someone in bed one who’s a bit of a mystery. Ben arrives and asks if Alex has a moment. Alex sends Mason to do a patient history and treatment plan and takes Ben into her office, surprised he’s there since they have an appointment tomorrow. Ben says he spoke to Maggie and Ziggy and has decided to see a psychologist about the therapy she suggested (cognitive behaviour therapy) and also try medication.

Bella is watching television when Dean turns up. She initially refuses to discuss what happened, telling him to drop it. Dean threatens to wake Colby and tell him so Bella agrees to go outside for a talk. She still thinks she was right; Dean says Colby might have had to bail her out on an arson charge but she insists she wouldn’t have been caught, despite Dean pointing out he and Willow caught her. Dean points out the fire could have spread to the surf club and the gym, meaning Willow would be out of a job, but Bella thinks she’d have just done more boot camps on the beach. She thinks Dean is on Mackenzie’s side. Dean tells her to stop doing stupid things and Bella tells him not to call her stupid. Irene comes out and asks what’s going on.

Leah, Justin and Ava play football on the headland. Ava sees Willow and happily greets her. Justin privately tells Willow that Nina and Brian are having problems. Willow goes over to Dean who tells her Bella hasn’t calmed down and thinks he’s siding with Mackenzie. At the Diner, Irene tries to quiz Bella who says it’s just about Mackenzie breaking up with Colby and thinks Dean has dumped Colby as well. Willow arrives and Irene is confused that Bella’s upset with her too. Neither enlighten her. Bella says Mackenzie was meant to make Colby happy but dumped him when things got hard just like Chelsea did. She says outsiders ruin everything, walking out. Irene points out to Willow that it wasn’t just Colby that Mackenzie dumped.

Alex gives Ben the number of a psychologist and tells him he can gets the drugs from the pharmacy. She reminds him the drugs could take a couple of weeks to work and to still take them if there’s side effects and come and see her. Mason comes up with a detailed treatment plan including an ECG and chest x-ray. Alex appreciates him being thorough, and agrees the patient might need the tests, but thinks they should wait for the cardiologist. Mason admits he’s trying to prove Alex was right about him and Alex assures him he deserves the job. At Salt, Ben arrives and tells Dean he’s going to take the medication, thanking him for his advice. Willow arrives and tells Dean what Irene thought about Bella being upset about Mackenzie leaving her. She thinks they should try and talk to her calmly.

Justin and Ava are playing draughts and Ava manages to take several of Justin’s pieces. Leah comes in from the back and calls Justin over: She found Ava’s phone outside with fifteen missed calls from Brian. Justin asks Ava about it. Ava says she left the phone out there because Brian kept calling and she didn’t want to speak to him. She goes to her room and Justin decides to call Brian himself. At the Diner flat, Willow and Dean arrive. Bella says Colby’s gone to Yabbie Creek if they were looking to tell him. Dean points out he’s got his phone but that’s not why they’re there. They say that Mackenzie only ended things because she was worried about Colby and would still want to spend time with her. After appearing to consider this, Bella retorts that she wants nothing to do with her.

At the farm, Ben is on the phone to the counsellor arranging an appointment: 10am, then once a week. He goes to the packet of pills and takes one. Back at the hospital, a patient is brought in: A farmer who rolled his tractor. Alex asks Mason what they should do and he says they need to put a cannula in and have bloods on stand by. Alex congratulates him.

Dean and Willow arrive at the gym, commenting on Bella’s lack of trust. Willow points out Bella spent years thinking her mother had abandoned her only to find she’d been murdered. Dean wonders if they should tell Colby after all before deciding they need to keep an eye on her: They’re worried she might do something else. At the Diner, Irene and Marilyn greet Mason and congratulate him on the new job: Raffy filled them in. Mason is disappointed still that he can’t pass a message on to Tori. He wonders about Robbo being back and Irene says that he just turned up, punched Colby and left again.

Justin finishes his phone conversation with Brian and rejoins Leah. He tells her that Brian didn’t even know Ava was there: He went to pick her up from football practice, only to be told Nina had already picked her up, and neither Nina nor Ava have answered his calls. Justin is bewildered that Nina seems to want to cut him out of Ava’s life, since Brian has been Ava’s stepfather since she was two and seems a great dad, so decides to call Nina. Later, Justin passes the phone on to Ava, telling Leah that Nina claims she simply forgot. However, the conversation between Nina and Ava sounds rather intense, with Ava, upset, saying she did what Nina told her to. Justin takes the phone back, telling Nina she’s supposed to be protecting Ava from the mess. He assures Ava she’s done nothing wrong and promises to fix it.
