Extended Summary

Justin and Willow are sitting near the beach. Justin tells Willow to go home and get some rest, since they’ve been searching all night. Justin wants to keep looking and Willow is reluctant to leave him. He eventually tells her to call him if she thinks of something. Dean comes up from the beach and hears Willow trying to phone Boyd. He asks her what’s going on. Justin heads home and tells Brody there’s been nothing. He wonders why the Eastons haven’t got in touch when they still want their money. Brody tells him they’re making sure he knows who’s boss. The phone rings and Brody answers: It’s Nina, who has finally got hold of the missed calls. He hands the receiver to Justin.

Willow and Dean go to see Colby at his flat. He tells them that the police are carrying out a full scale search but have found nothing, leaving Dean scornful. Willow gives him a list of the Eastons’ known associates off the record. Colby tells her he can’t tell her what they find but, after Dean has gone, suggests they tell each other anything. Meanwhile, Ben goes to visit Maggie at the hospital and they exchange jokes about the mask and gown suiting him. Ben explains Ziggy is taking Coco to the camp and gives Maggie a card Coco left behind. He notes she hasn’t eaten and, when stroking her hair, accidentally pulls out a few strands. They both try to make light of it.

Willow and Dean are in Salt; Willow asks Dean if he can help with any information but Dean says no-one he knows has been mad enough to have dealings with the Eastons apart from her. Meanwhile, Hazel and Boyd are holding Ava in a barn and getting increasingly fed up with her refusing to eat her breakfast and asking where Justin is. Boyd wants to phone Justin but Hazel says that they can’t trust him and need to call Willow. Boyd does so, telling her they want her to bring the money and not involve the police, adding that she helped put him inside and he didn’t expect Russell to survive the fall. He also says the price has gone up $10,000. At the Morgan house, Justin tells Brody that Nina’s stuck on a cruise but will get a flight once they dock. Willow and Dean turn up and Willow passes on Boyd’s message. Brody says that Tori is getting the rest of the money from the bank so he’ll text her and let her know to get more. Both Justin and Willow agree to keep the police out of it this time.

Ben comes into the Diner and is greeted by Irene and Marilyn, who have heard about Maggie being in hospital. Ben tells them about her losing her hair and how it was a shock. They convince him to sit and eat. Later, Ben is at the hospital when Irene and Marilyn turn up, telling him he needs to take a break. Ben doesn’t think Maggie’s up for visitors but they tell him they know what it’s like in isolation. He relents, saying they won’t need masks if they stay away from her but will need gowns.

Brody arrives home with the money from Tori, but they only managed to get $11,000, $8,500 less than the Eastons asked for. Justin is still prepared to do as they ask. However, once they’re alone, Dean tells Justin that Boyd meant to kill Russell and they shouldn’t let Willow meet him alone. They both nod in agreement. Willow is waiting outside the surf club when Colby approaches her. He says they’ve been checking out the list she gave them, which included people they didn’t know about, but haven’t found anything. Willow says there’s been no contact. After Colby’s gone, Justin appears with the money but tells Willow what Dean said and that he now isn’t keen for her to meet Boyd.

Ava continues to be a less than happy hostage, prompting Boyd to tell her to go and play outside until Hazel points out that’s dumb. Boyd complains that if they’d stuck to the plan they’d be rid of her, but Hazel insists they can’t let someone cross them without consequences. Meanwhile, Brody ushers everyone out of Salt: He, Justin, Willow and Dean are meeting a plain-clothed Colby there. Colby thinks the Eastons might be having someone watch the police station, but Dean, who is fairly antagonistic towards Colby, says no-one will work with them. Colby is starting to explain that they need to let the exchange happen when Willow gets a text from Boyd saying to meet him at the old camping ground at 3pm.

Marilyn tells Maggie a story about one of John’s DIY disasters. Ben suggests Irene and Marilyn leave but first they hand him a box with a present for Maggie: They heard about the hair loss so have bought her a scarf so she won’t need to feel self-conscious if it happens again. Ben and Maggie look grateful but a bit uncomfortable. At Salt, Colby is giving positions to a group of plain clothes officers including Murray. Justin, Brody and Willow are also present. Colby gives instructions to Willow for getting Ava back. Justin insists on going too and Colby says he needs to stay with the van.

Willow heads to the meeting place; Colby and another officer are hidden in the bushes while Justin is with Murray and others some distance away. Dean is also in hiding. Boyd drives up with Ava and Colby relays the information to Justin and Murray by radio. After a tense wait, Boyd gets out and steers Ava towards Willow. Willow shows Boyd the bag full of money and puts it down on the ground. She then yells at Ava to run and the girl does. Boyd realises the bag is light and grabs Willow round the throat, saying she was never going to walk away anyway. Dean tackles Boyd. Ava runs into Justin and the pair stay behind as Colby, Murray and the others run on. Boyd gives Dean a beating, also hitting Willow when she tries to pull him off, but with several officers on foot and a police car arriving, he gets back in the ute. Dean staggers around dazed as Boyd circles round and drives at him. Colby shouts several warning that are ignored, then shoots Boyd. However, the vehicle hits Dean anyway and he lies motionless.
