Extended Summary

Justin and Mason drive around Mangrove River, it’s not much to look at. They check each address on Lena’ list but aren’t having much luck finding Brody. They head to the last place on the list but the occupant denies seeing him and tells them to rack off. Justin and Mason watch the house from the road. When an opportunity presents itself they barge into the house and find Brody trying to escape out a window. They chase him and are forced to subdue him physically, as Brody yells and screams for them to get off him in a drug-addled rage. They bring Brody home, still struggling and he tries to make a run for it and they’re forced to restrain him again. Later, when Brody has calmed some, Brody says he spent Scarlett’s money but he hasn’t done anything wrong, he had to steal the money because Justin took all of his. Anyway, he doesn’t want to stop the drugs, he wants to go back to the drug den in Mangrove River. Justin lays it out for Brody, the only place Brody’s going is to the cops to confess to theft and convince them he’s going to rehab, that’s the only way he’ll stay out of gaol. Brody thinks it’s a trick. Justin and Mason become increasingly frustrated with Brody’s attitude. They love Brody, they’re on his side and they’re trying to help him. Later, there’s a knock on the door. It’s the cops, ready to arrest Brody. Brody tries to make another run for it, but they handcuff him. Brody begs for Justin’s help, but Justin says he is helping. He called the cops himself.

Irene finds Leah watching over Luc in her hospital bed. Leah’s still cold with her. Irene wonders why Leah hasn’t said anything about her letter. Leah didn’t think she needed to read it, she thought Irene said everything she needed to before she left. Irene is disappointed, no she had more to say. It’s awkward and tense. Olivia brings Irene coffee at hospital, glad she’s back in the bay. Irene’s dumbfounded to learn that Zac isn’t Hunter’s father and has left the bay after agreeing to give Leah a divorce. At home, Leah opens the envelope from Irene and is surprised to find it’s a contract signing over Irene’s half of the diner to her. Leah can’t believe Irene thinks she can buy her friendship, surely she’s not serious. Alf thinks Irene is taking this very seriously, she’s trying to make up for everything that’s happened. He suggests the two of them chat. At the diner, Irene admits she was floored when Leah said she wanted out of the diner, after all the years she’s spent there. Irene argues she’s the one who hurt Leah, she should be the one to walk away, but it’s not a ploy to get Leah to forgive her. It’s because Leah’s lost so much already – Billie, Luc and now Zac. She doesn’t want Leah to lose the diner as well. She knows it won’t make up for everything that happened with Luc, but she just wants Leah to be happy. Leah doesn’t think this is the answer. Irene, distraught, what is? Irene and Leah visit Luc together. Leah defrosts. She doesn’t want to fight with Irene and she doesn’t want either of them to leave the diner. She was just so angry having to let Luc go, but Irene assures her she and VJ will always be a part of Luc’s life. Leah and Irene break down and confess they miss each other and apologise. They hug, friendship mended. Later at home, Irene receives a call and tells the unknown caller on the other end to stop calling her. Who is the mystery caller?

At the bait shop, Scarlett’s fiddling with a heart locket, it’s obviously important to her. Alf arrives, pleased to see she’s keen to start work so early. She thanks Alf for the opportunity. As Alf and Scarlett chat amiably, a strange man watches from a distance. When Scarlett heads to Yabbie Creek on an errand for Alf, the man approaches him and asks if he knows where Scarlett’s staying. Alf is reluctant to hand out information to a stranger and just tells him Scarlett will be back later. When Scarlett returns she tries to cover her alarm when Alf lets her know a strange man was asking after her, but Alf is suspicious. Later, Scarlett is cleaning a boat when the stranger finds her. Scarlett knows him: Bruno. Who is this man?
